What happens if I move to another state with one portion of the CPA exam passed; is it transferable?

This is a BEC practice exam question!

I think the answer is A, but you'll need to request to submit the scores.

Yes, you can transfer scores from one state to another. The only place this gets sticky is if you qualified in one state to take the exam but not in another state. However, you can still take the exams in State B as a candidate of State A, but licensing in State B could be a problem if you're not qualified to sit in State B. I know there's one state (I can't remember which though – something in New England I think) at least that doesn't count your exam scores unless you met the qualifications to sit in their state when you took them – so if State B requires 30 accounting hours and you only had 27 cause State A just required 27, there's a chance State B wouldn't count the scores. 😐 However, most states aren't this picky – might require the 30 to give you a license, but most will still accept your exam credits.

If you want to tell us which 2 states you're talking about, we may be able to provide more insight, but if this potential move is still “top secret” I can understand if you can't tell us.

Was it Florida where you got your eligibility to sit for CPA tests? If so and if you're planning to move back there, why bother to transfer State Board Office to another state? You can sit in any Prometric Center anywhere in the US. I took one of my tests in Indiana and I feel like testing there again because that place seems to have a good luck charm on me, LOL.

this is actually all really new to me, I have not yet registered in New Jersey to take the exam but now that you brought this to my attention, you are saying I can register in Florida and send everything to them and actually sit for the exam here in NJ?

Yes you can, I qualified through Oklahoma, but live close to the Texas state line. Depending on how schedules were looking, I took half of my exams in Texas and half in Oklahoma. Just licensed in Oklahoma.

    A 88, B 76, F 84, R 76 Passed 2014

    Licensed in OK

I am registered to take exams in Maine, but am moving to Mass this fall. No problems really, I will continue to sit under Maine jurisdiction even if I don't have them all passed by this fall since I meet both the Maine and Mass requirements. Just be careful that you meet requirements for both states.
