Illinois – applying for RCPA online vs paper

As soon as I’m able to, I’m going to apply for the RCPA. Registered CPA license (no experience)

Which takes longer for the ILDPA to process and send the RCPA license : Applying online or applying via the paper application? I’m suspecting both end up collecting dust on the same desk.

Congratulation on your scores! I guess we are on the same boat now – waiting for the certificate. By any chance, do you know if we can apply for the RCPA as soon as we get our paper certification from ILBOA? The reason why I am asking is because on the “orange” informative sheet that I received with my score report last month, there is a statement that it will take a minimum of 3 weeks for the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to process our certification data after ILBOA forwards the info.

I think you can register it as soon as you get it.

And it takes a few weeks for IDFPR to process it.

When you go through the online RCPA application process, the site asks your for some identifying information. It uses this info to verify you are a CPA and are eligible for the RCPA.

@makinthemagic, @75: How long did it take for you to get it?

@GosiaS: Thanks! I think we can apply as soon as we know the certificate number. If it shows up on the ILBOA website, as certified, then that may be the earliest time to apply.

I think the cert# will be posted for IL march 15….i called last week and that was the response. You may want to call and verify they got your ethics score, I guess that has been a problem for some in the past.

@Ridefast600: Awesome. I'll monitor the ILBOA website, for when they do this, they'll post an announcement. For example. https://www.ilboa.org/news/2012/02/newly-certified-candidates

Looks like that link doesn't work anymore. New link: https://www.ilboa.org/news/2012/02/new-cpas-applying-your-license

“Certification information is transmitted to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) for all new CPAs every two weeks, around the first and the fifteenth of the month. “

“around” Great. That's government speak for “whenever we get around it.”

I called the Board about a month ago to check on my Ethics score. They tried to explain the certification process to me, but I was not paying much attention, since I was not certain if I passed my last part. If I remember correctly, it takes a few weeks to have us officially certified, and we should not expect that to happen before we receive our official 4th score in the mail. Fingers crossed for the end of March!

I tried to go through the registration process of IDFPR but I got a message that they don't have my exam scores on file yet.

    I guess I'm too fast 😀

Was it included in the 2nd score release? I took mine on 2/28, and just got my final result about 10 days ago.
