I am a candidate in Louisiana. I emailed my local testing center asking them to confirm that my appointment on May 22nd still stands. This testing center is not just Prometric but is also a computer testing center for the local community college, so I don’t think my replies are necessarily from a Prometric employee. Here is the reply I got:

“ Later this week the College Prometric Test Center will open to administer only essential service exams. This restriction is in place at least through the end of May. The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) exams are considered essential service exams. I am well aware of the many challenges facing all of us with cancellations, rescheduling and so on. At this time we are not able to see what exams or who is currently scheduled. We hope to have that soon. Once we have the information we will be reaching out to confirm appointments.

Thank you for your patience during this challenging time.”

I can’t even begin to express the frustration at the lack of organization, communication, and transparency by NASBA and Prometric. I have a test expiring in July, and I believed I had two attempts at REG before that expires, and as of yesterday my expiration is still July. NASBA has offered no guidance as to a timeline for a planned response. They haven’t scratched the surface of the FAQs candidates are facing, and the clock is ticking. It is hard enough studying for the exam, but it’s a whole different ball game studying for an exam that you have no idea as to when it will occur.

For such a large organization with so many folks depending on guidance, the response by NASBA has been unacceptable at best, and abysmal at worst.
