How are Sims graded?

    Hi,

I recently took FAR and I am freaking out because of Sims. I was only able to attempt 6 sims out of 7. And in every Sim I wasn’t sure that if I got it 100% correct. Are the Sims computer graded or they are reviewed manually and graded on the basis of how all the candidates performed. I read the AICPA grading manual it is not very clear on how the actual grading is done. If someone can explain that would be great. Thanks

rossk, I believe the only thing that's now graded manually is the written portion of BEC. Everything else, including sims on all exams, is graded by a computer. Also, to your other question – the way I understand the system, each question is assigned a number of “points” based on how well the candidates did on those questions in prior testing periods. So, while you're not competing against people in your testing window, your responses are compared to those of other people who have taken the exam in the past

    FAR - passed

Thank you! so if I'm off by a decimal point that answer will be considered wrong? On my exam there was a question in which you had to answer till 3 decimal points. Due to shortage of time I missed the last decimal. Just wanted to know whether it will be considered right? I know its like going into too much detail but it would be kind of unfair losing points for a decimal.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for that, but I believe the system is set up fairly, so I would guess that answer would still count but may earn you less “points.” I was told by Becker that the rumor is if your answer to a research question is in the same section as the correct answer you might still score some points (my question for Becker was whether I would loose all points if I was to find a general rule, and not the one addressing the question asked specifically). So, I would expect the same logic to apply to sims where you need to put actual numbers in. But, I would be curious to hear if other people have any experience.
