I got an email from Nasba stating I was ineligible to sit for exam because my transcripts didn’t state I earned a bachelor degree. I called both my school and Nasba and found out that I requested my transcript a week too early for it to show on non official transcript since my December graduation. Nasba told me that I just need to resend my transcripts and I will be fine luckily, but I am trying to beat the 2015 150 hour limit change and this put a bit of a twist to the vise on that timeframe.

It could have been far worse though.

@goingtobecpa87 I thought long and hard about just finishing off a masters but at about $20k I figured it was worth the cost of trying the CPA exam first because if you fail you still have the $20k to spend on school. Definitely a bit of a gamble, but worth it I think. Plus I'm fresh out of accounting courses so rather than push it down the road with fewer classes in the future geared towards accounting I think I'd be doing myself a disservice.

Been there. I listened to my advisors at school and should have known better when they recommend I take the Becker courses at school as I had enough credits to sit for the exam. So I got the software, spent 2 months taking 2 Becker courses, felt comfortable and the clock on the software began to tick. Months later I submitted my package to the board and they found me 3 credits short as 2 courses were considered identical. So I had to take another course, wait 2 months for it to start up, then another 2 months to finish the course. I then sent my transcripts to the board and, since you cannot open your transcripts, I didn't know the registrar hadn't recorded them yet, 3 weeks later I was denied, again. I had to bitch out my dean for it and she made sure the transcripts were correct and then over-nighted them to the board. 3 weeks later I got an approval letter to sit and 3 weeks after that I had my NTS. Ultimately, I was set back about 8 months just because of one error. It was very discouraging. Meanwhile my studying fell by the wayside as all my free time was dedicated to passing the course I had to take. So I had to start all over again with studying for my exam. Basically, it was nearly a year into the process by the time I sat for my first exam, and failed, then failed it again. I didn't finally pass until nearly 2 years after this process began. The software expired and I had to renew it. The best part is that when I pass all 4 parts, I still have to get 9 credits for licensing. Wooo Hooo! It sucks, but by judging the lifestyle of nearly every CPA I meet; it's well worth it in the end. But trust me, I feel your pain.

Don't worry, this will work itself out. Don't be discouraged by it. In the meantime, study as if you have a notice to schedule in your hands. Remember, it all starts with a 75.
