Advice needed on credit extension request

    Hi guys
I desperately need some advice from you guys. I just found out that I failed my last part, AUD, with a 73. That leads to the expiration of my first credit, FAR. For AUD, I know I was closed and I believe I could make it with another try. But what worries me is retaking FAR. Since I struggled a lot with it before finally passed. I am not sure if I could do it again.
I was thinking of requesting a credit extension. In my state, which is MA, Test center was closed from 03/18 to sometime in May (I could not find the exact date). MA has the extension policy due to covid but unfortunately, my expiration date did not fall into the range. Based on what I read from the conversation that you guys had earlier on this topic, I understand the extension could be granted case by case and also it depends on the state. I was wondering if I should give it a try and request an extension. And if so, what do you think is my chance? Thank you so much!

You should definitely reach out and try to get that extension. It never hurts to try but you should give a very good reason as to why you deserve an extension. Wish you all the best! Yeah, it would be a nightmare repassing FAR! I had to repass REG and definitely wasnt fun at all. Its not the end of the world though, I buckled down and repassed Reg and i intend to do the same with AUD..

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 80
    REG - 77
    FAR 80

    REG 79*,77

    AUD 78!!Final

    BEC 76

@CPAHOPE: thank you very much for your response! I will try to reach out and keep you guys posted on the steps here just in case anyone in the future might need it. Regarding a very good reason. Do you think mentioning the state lockdown and test center temporary closed is good enough of a reason?

@CPAHOPE: also do you mind sharing some some of your advice on repass REG? I really don't even want to think about that nightmare. It scares me just to think about it. I know FAR has changed quite a lot since I passed it. How long did you restudy? How do you keep yourself motivated to do it? I can't imagine how hard it was for you to repass it.

State lockdown and temporary closures in your area are very solid reasons to get the credit extension. I think you actually have a great chance to get the extension. You should definitely reach out to them asap.

Man, yeah it was definitely a nightmare but i wanted it so bad that i didnt want to give up. I do a little prayer and watch motivational speech on youtube before i studied. My favorites are david goggins and joe rogan. They help me keep motivated. You have to find a way to get motivated every single day. Once you find that motivation, its not as bad as you think. Anyways, i restudied REG for 7 weeks and passed. I first read the book and solve as many mcs and simulations as possible. You can do it !!!

    AUD - 78
    BEC - 76
    FAR - 80
    REG - 77
    FAR 80

    REG 79*,77

    AUD 78!!Final

    BEC 76

You should very thoughtfully put into writing your request for CPA exam credit extension “due to uncontrollable circumstances from COVID-19” with evidence including exact dates of closure, lack of texting in your area, time lost to retake AUD before FAR expired, etc. Not sure about MD, but I was successful in getting my credit extension in CA.

And if it's any consolation, I took FAR last intentionally. The idea was that I would have a lot of exam experience under my belt before facing FAR. The person you were when you started your CPA journey and tackled FAR is not the same person you are today. You already have the foundation, you can get back to another passing score. Best of luck!

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 77
    REG - 78

@CPA2020: I really appreciate your detailed instructions. I will try to be as detailed and thoughtful as I can putting down those information for the request.
Did you just email them or you also need to call and talk to them? May I ask if your credit expiration date was far from the range that The state board provided for credit extension? Because for my case, my FAR just expired on June 10th 2021, I sit for AUD on June 8 2021 and received the results yesterday that I failed. Lockdown and test center closure happened back in March to May 2020. I am not so sure how to link that to my time lost to take AUD before FAR expired.
I really got inspired by your saying that the person I were when I first sit is not the person I am today. I will keep that in mind to keep myself motivated if I have to repass it.

I am sorry to say, but I highly doubt the board will grant you an extension because you didn't pass AUD, which lead to FAR being expired. I have been in numerous board meetings, and most of the extensions request and (beyond what the boards has already extended during the pandemic) was granted are related to visa issues and health problems. You can give it a try, but I wouldn't place any hope in it.

@CPAGuru: I really appreciate your input. That's good to know. I just wanted to try. I know the chance is dim and I am prepared that I need to retake
