    Hi everyone,

I am currently in the biggest rut of my studying era. I have BEC next Saturday and have been somewhat studying for the past week and a half. My problem is that every time I try to read the Becker book or do multiple choice questions, I become frustrated that I am not picking it up quickly enough.

I have friends that have passed BEC and say it is the easiest exam, but I do not seem to pick the material up as quickly as they do and now it is about to bite me in the butt in 11 days.

Did any of you feel this way during BEC and still pass? I will continue to fight through the frustrations, but it is certainly overwhelming for me.

    R- Pass
    F- Pass

    B 10/29/16
    A 10/1/16
    R 9/2/16
    F 7/26/16

I found BEC very frustrating…I didn't have the non-accounting courses, or Econ…which is what a lot of bec was. The COSO garbage was non-sense with artificial categories…pure arbitrary fluff. IT was the same…and I resent that IT nerds have managed to make everyone else learn their language when they're support.

Basically most of bec was fluff, and I resented having to learn its BS. It was also the last exam I took and I was sick of the process by then. It also lacked sims, which played against my strengths.

I profit from your CPE frustration. You're welcome.

I'm right there with you. I'm currently studying for BEC (5/31) and the Becker stuff hasn't really been sticking in my head much, while the Becker MCQs bring the confidence level down.

I recommend jumping ahead to modules that you do understand and grasp well. I minored in Economics during my undergrad and when I was getting my MBA and it helped boost my confidence, while they also didn't take as much time as other sections.

Biggest advice I've gotten from this forum is stay confident and build your study plan off of your strengths.

BEC was the only one I passed on the first try! My biggest advice is for your remaining time, don't “somewhat” study, but live-eat-breath that sh*t. I also recommend picking up NINJA MCQs for this one and just crank those as much as you can until test day, like hundreds per day. Don't get frustrated and just try to make SOMETHING stick from every question you face or mistake you make. I only studied BEC about 3 weeks and passed while I was studying months for the others and had to retake all of them, so what you're doing is possible – but just go balls to the wall with whatever time you have left. Soon this will all be done and you won't have to make this effort anymore, so give it your all and things will work out 🙂

BEC is the only section I've taken so far, and yes, I couldn't stand studying for it either! There was just sooo much material, and the fact that it was all unrelated topics annoyed me and made it seem like there was even more material. I'd get so frustrated because I couldn't seem to understand things (and still don't) even after practicing over and over. The fact that people claimed it was the “easiest section” made me even more frustrated cause if the material in BEC was so-called “easy” than how much harder is the material in the other sections?! O_O

@anyatver I feel like me and you are so similar. LOL. I feel AUD was super easy to study for as well! So easy that I actually enjoyed studying for it. (Weird I know.) It's just so logical! I sit for it tomorrow, so I really hope I feel the same way when I take the exam. I'm gonna start studying for REG this week and I'm not looking forward to it as I know REG and FAR will be a lot more frustrating than BEC was. Ugh….

@reallytired, I hadn't seen you post in a while, i assumed you passed everything and had left A71. Sorry to hear you failed Audit.

I can completely relate to you though. Audit was my first fail and my confidence did take a hit. I was always leery about audit to begin with as it was my most disliked topic. I just bit the bullet and forced myself to sit and do mcq's over and over for about 3-4 weeks. I also re-read my problem Becker chapters.

I got lucky and snuck by with a 77 my second go.

Don't let that fail get you down, you can do it. Don't let the burnout get to you, just focus for a short bit and get that 75!

I will second the BEC advice offered above, i spent a ton of time on formulas and my test felt like they weren't even being tested… COSO though, god do i hate you, my BEC test might as well have been a COSO certification.

Don't get frustrated when people tell you this one or that one is easy. I thought BEC was the easiest, but my degree was in Economics and Finance. I thought Audit and REG were the worst and all my coworkers that came from audit were talking about how they didn't even study for AUD and scored in the 80's. If you passed FAR and REG you are more than capable of learning and knowing the information needed for REG. Just a matter of study time and to keep drilling the material. Find the weak points and spend more time on those and just brush up on the areas you perform better in now.
