Since krokofilen is not sharing can anyone please share his/her strategy used to pass the BEC .I have my exams end of Jan.Thanks
January 4, 2015 at 10:18 pm #637504greg422MemberI don't think anyone would recommend that strategy although its impressive it worked. I put in 6/7 weeks and devoted the final 3 weeks to all NINJA MC. I was struggling at first and was trending in the 50s. Kept at it and got up to the mid 80s with an 80 average before taking the exam. BEC was harder than AUD and Reg for me, but for some it may come easier.

January 4, 2015 at 10:32 pm #637506mla1169ParticipantRemember he was traveling here from Europe for the purpose of the exams and trying to squeeze 2 into one trip, I'm guessing he wouldn't recommend as a strategy for anyone who didn't have to travel internationally for the exams. He seemed pretty thorough so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't at least glance at BEC before those last 2.5 days…

January 4, 2015 at 11:41 pm #637507spinfuzerParticipantThe “strategy” was that he already he solid knowledge of various subjects in BEC already such as Economics. The more you already know, the less you need to study. In other words, if you do not already have solid background knowledge, you are not going to pass BEC with 2.5 days of studying completely new material. It's more like he had 2.5 days of review, not 2.5 days of total studying.
He had also ALREADY read the Becker Book prior to those 2.5 days. He he already had 60 pages of printed out notes prior to the 2.5 days.

This British guy finished the CPA exam in 12 weeks while working bout 60 hrs per week (big4). Now Im certain that god did not create everyone the same way when it comes to IQ. Thank god for perseverance. I know the British were Bright for inventing the best sport in the world, but damn!

Reg=77January 5, 2015 at 12:11 am #637509Jack_JParticipantthanks spinfuzer and all for your good response the take away is that it is not possible to pass BEC with weak knowledge background in Econs , CG, Management Accounting etc from college in 2.5 days but if one studies very hard and get a fair good command over the topics either from college or from the CPA review courses then one can use 2.5 days to hammer the MCQ and review topics s/he did not do well during the MCQ practice which looks very realistic to pass the BEC in 30 hours. Thanks all once again .
January 5, 2015 at 12:16 am #637510AnonymousInactiveHe also finished it in a state with lower entrance requirements. (AK). Its my opinion that the states don't necessarily grade everyone the same. If they did, then why wouldn't all the scores be released at the same time?
Of course it's only my opinion based on no evidence other than knowing a few people from states with light requirements that got high CPA scores while receiving low GMAT scores and mild GPAs.
January 5, 2015 at 1:04 am #637511mla1169ParticipantDoOver, the states don't administer or grade (or have anything to do with) the actual exam. The states only determine eligibility.
And the AICPA releases the scores to all states at the same time but how and when the states pass along that info depends on whether or not the states belong to NASBA.

January 5, 2015 at 2:15 am #637513AnonymousInactive@mia1169
If the states don't have control over the grades then why are there different standards for different states? Why are there indy and non-indy states? Why is the license not always transferable state to state? Why do some states require residency while others do not? I question this because if it were truly uniform we wouldn't even be licensed by the state, but rather a national board.
It seems to me that all states are filling a need for the CPA work in their respective states. They may be adjusting scores to make sure they have enough CPAs. Like I said, just my opinion.
January 5, 2015 at 2:20 am #637514mla1169ParticipantThe exam is only one part of becoming licensed. Everything else you mention has to do with the other requirements to be licensed. A passing score is always determined by the AICPA. That's why a candidate can take the exam at any prometric in the country regardless of where they applied. The test and it's grading is uniform.
