I was really pumped for BEC. I knew it would be my highest score. But it just wasn’t high enough. 🙁

Every single time I am “weaker” in the MCQ, and “comparable” and “stronger” in the Sims (which I never practice)

So now the question…I am on the first chapter restudying for audit, but when should I turn back to BEC to get those extra 4 points I need?

    This exam is a bitch.

listen: what is your method to studying when you have three different studying materials? You use Wiley and Ninja after you've gone through the entire section in Becker? How do you keep it all straight? I barely find I have enough time to get through Becker — can I buy some time from you because I only have 24 hours and could use a little xtra.

In fact, that is what I am going to do. Pick up where I left off and go into attack mode until the window opens again.

So how do you guys suggest I get my NTS if I focus on one at a time until they are done. I don't know about NBSIA states but in CA we have to submit a new application for each NTS. Each NTS costs the applicable exam fees and a $50 reapplication fee. So would you suggest biting the bullet and getting 4 separate NTS when I am ready to take each exam and paying $200 and not risking being rushed on time, or all one NTS for the $50, and risking running into an expiring NTS?

Oh and do you guys have any worries about your study programs expiring? I started 2011 Becker with FAR and AUD in October 2011 and have 18months, so thats another reason why I was thinking about knocking those out first. I know I still have a lot of time left, but I'd hate to see my $3Gs expire. How do you guys deal with this?

@bound – I don't feel I am one to give advice, as my process has failed me. I use Becker as my main review, watch the videos, and do the MCQ and progress tests, and I also follow up with WTB MCQ (I especially like these because in the 2012 Becker you can't take quizzes per section), and in some areas I think Wiley is more in-line with the exam (i.e. for BEC their questions were more theory – like the exam), I rewrote a ninja notes for AUD and REG which I really think helped, but for some exams, I don't know that they would. Regardless, they serve as good before-bed/car ride reading. Jeff is really good at explaining things in a simpler way, a lot of time time.

So in conclusion, Becker for the main, Wiley for extra multiple choice, and Ninja Notes during review.

Just got my score this morning for BEC. 64 = FAIL! What a great start haha. This was my first exam, after having decided to pursue my CPA. Decided I would join this forum, and have to say I feel a little better seeing as how I am not the only one struggling with this exam!

I am scheduled to sit for FAR in 2 weeks and have barely touched the material. Too many distractions and too much time spent worrying about my score for BEC.

Thinking I will go ahead and try and prepare my best for FAR, even knowing its a long shot to pass. I am debating just skipping it, as I know I am not ready.

Finding consistent time to study has been my biggest problem! I get too distracted with family, work, and everything else except the exam!

I've been where you are…. look at my scores below…. get focused now! Don't waste time like I did. It is very hard to only focus on studying. I was working alot too, so all I wanted to was not study when I was free or hang iwth family. If you are really serious, you have to find what to give up to make the exam a success. Don't mean to sound harsh or judgmental, I just know how long I got stuck at not taking the exam seriuosly. A year ago I changed jobs, started studying more and more until I felt like I was scarificing my life for the exam… and it paid off. I passed my first exam in Aug. after “studying” for 2 years. Don't skip FAR, maybe just push it back. Extended winow for Q4 or Q1 '13. Good luck!! You can do this but it takes a lot of determination.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

Chin up, Franklin. And thanks for bringing my old post back.

I remember my first fail, it was that terrible FAR. It was definitely a humbing experience. It takes time to understand what to expect from this exam – which in reality is any damn thing at all. You just have to go into it and give it all you've got. I wish there was an easier way to explain it…

I know how it feels and I know it's nice to have other people who are struggling too. While I'm happy for those who started halfway through my experience and are already done, it makes me envious and drives me to succeed also.

Like my friend, littlenumber said, you have got to make sacrifices and can't compare yourself to others. You learn how you learn and you'll know it when you feel confident.

Sometimes I reflect back on the stupid things I have done instead of studying and each had resulted at a failing grade. I don't have much more time or money to spend making excuses…I want this exam off my shoulders.

Thanks guys for the encouragement. I am sure I could come up with every excuse in the book for not being able to study, but in the end it all comes down to how serious I am about passing this exam! I plan on going ahead and taking FAR, regardless of what the out come is; giving up is not an option. 😛

Again, I am happy that I found this board. Seeing everyones journey from start to finish is encouraging, and I hope to someday be able to post “Hey, I passed and I am done with this thing!!”

    Will keep you all posted.!
