HustlinHustlinMemberI was really pumped for BEC. I knew it would be my highest score. But it just wasn’t high enough. 🙁
Every single time I am “weaker” in the MCQ, and “comparable” and “stronger” in the Sims (which I never practice)
So now the question…I am on the first chapter restudying for audit, but when should I turn back to BEC to get those extra 4 points I need?
This exam is a bitch.

kts1010MemberI would just concentrate on one exam until you have finally passed it. There is no need to keep moving around it just makes you forget what you studied last time. Just my two cents though, but that is what I would be doing.

FAR first is a good way to start… it's a big hurdle. a HUGE hurdle for me has been REG. still waiting on my score, and i have to retake FAR and possibly audit if i don't pass these. i'm so screwed and wish i took REG right after FAR. if you get through those two, the other two should be much easier to get done.
if you really feel like you're close with BEC, though… just focus on that. you were so close!! go through as many mcq's for 1-2 weeks and just retake it. then try for the longer exams…
good luck!

HustlinHustlinMemberI def agree with everyone on FAR, it will be my beast. My problem is I am in the midst of busy season right now with 6/30 YE clients and will be until November or December, so I figured I should focus on something less demanding for the next few months. Plus I really feel like at this point I just need to see one passing score to get my confidence up and to put more pressure on. I think I will finish up AUD, come back to BEC and keep hammering. Considering im an auditor, I'd really like to be able to tell my boss I have that section done by our December reviews.
Just so…sad/angry right now.

mmcgrad1MemberBased on what you just said about busy season, maybe it's best to take BEC and then AUD. Then if you have more time to study later you can use that to study for the more difficult FAR and REG. I just know people say to take the hardest sections first so you don't risk losing sections and having to retake them. Ultimately, you know what fits best in your schedule.
NIU CPA Review Correspondence is awesome!
I passed all four sections on the first attempt

HustlinHustlinMemberUn poquito, but definitely not enough to keep up – especially with accounting jargon! Thank you for the offer!
And thanks, everyone for your advice and encouragement. Every now and then when I get so upset at little things like this, I have to remind myself they are just first world problems, and I am lucky to have the opportunity for them to arise.
🙂
Now Audit, bring it on!

jokamiMemberStart with FAR… I think it is the base for all of the test…. It should, as my fellow peers mention above, be the test you should start with…
Don't worry about being in high season…. Just go slower, steady, and with a lot of patience. Study, review, repeat!

AnonymousInactiveI feel like I am one chord short of a song and can't seem to get it figured out. I am studying like crazy and work like crazy and everything is just crazy!
I want to pass so bad and reach this goal that it is killing me. I try to relax but the idea of passing can just overwhelm me at times. I feel inadequate and get freaked out that this material is WAY over my head. I feel like every-other-minute I am reminding myself that “I can do this…” I have taken FAR and AUD and have failed miserably. I know that other people work and have jam-packed schedules and still can pass — so why can't I?
I am only using Becker right now and don't know if it is really necessary to supplement that or just study practice problems more with my next two exams. I JUST WANT TO PASS AN EXAM!
Maybe I'm not giving myself enough time to get through the material adequately, but other people pass on the first time with flying colors — why can't I?

HustlinHustlinMemberjenuno – I have switched it up between every exam since I started studying FAR last October. Maybe that's my problem, but I don't know any better since I haven't found a solid method. I started with using Becker's method of lecture, highlight, underline, read, took some more notes and did MCQ – that clearly didn't work for me. By AUD I implemented doing mini-quizzed of each section until I scored above 70 and that seemed to really help. By REG I bought Wiley Test Bank and used that in conjuction with Becker Questions. For BEC I focused a little more on the NINJA technique – made my own flashcards, and did crazy amounts of MCQ.
I find it really ironic that I can't seem to score high on the MCQ because that is all I focus on. I have seen a lot of people on here pass with repetition (read 2x, mcq at least 2 times) and maybe that is what its going to take.
I am looking forward to my next round, though. I think in the beginning I was naive about how much you really need to know and had really bad anxiety before my exams.
As much as I would like to attack FAR right now, I just don't feel like I will be able to give it my best.
@bounddetermined – I feel your pain, and it is nice to hear someone who is also in my position. I go from being proud of myself for taking this exam to feeling like an idiot for putting myself in this situation day to day. If there is one thing that has killed my confidence it is every time I see a failing grade. I know people who put in 50% of the effort I have – study in a week or so and pass. It kills me that I keep spending so much time and money to be disappointed. I have been in public accounting for three years now and was an average student in college. I'm getting really tired of all my friends, coworkers and family asking about the exam and I have to tell them I haven't passed any of them. But we need to use this vengeance to pass the exam!
Enough of our pity party (though I feel you, it is necessary sometimes). AUD is tricky and FAR is dense, take the other two and figure out your weaknesses. No matter how down I felt this morning I kept remembering one thing “I AM going to be a CPA” It doesn't matter how long it takes, we will get there. You never fail until you stop trying. Anytime you need someone to talk to, I'm all ears. There are people who have been or did take this exam for years, but their optimism is what inspires me. So much of this exam is confidence.
Thank you, everyone for the advice. It really is such a relief to know you aren't alone.
