I’m currently studying for BEC and I’ve taken all other 3 exams except I am still waiting for my score release for REG. I wanted to take BEC within 10 days so I can get both my REG and BEC scores at the same time…. I just wanted to know if it’s doable!!!

    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed
    REG - July 6, 2016
    BEC - Studying

Just remember It's a risk and if you don't pass, you can't try again until October 1. Much LONGER wait if it didn't work out.

Why do you have to wait until October 1st?

    B - TBD
    A - (8/3/16)
    R - 81 (5/24/16)
    F - (7/18/16)

If you take it around 8/14 you will get the score on 8/24 … I too was trying to cram in BEC before the 20th for the score release, but decided against it because the greater reward is passing.

You can only take each section one time per quarter. If you take BEC in July you've used the q3 attempt and must wait for q4.

@brickell For me the key to longer study sessions was breaks that included getting up and moving around. Laundry was great for study days for me, cause every hour the dryer would buzz and I'd get up, fold laundry, put new laundry in, etc., and the moving around (while still being productive) get my head cleared. Then a longer break midday to cook and eat lunch (not just grab something out of the fridge, actually spend at least 15-20 minutes making something, then maybe watch a funny YouTube video while eating). I never managed 10-hour study days unless it was right before my exam, but having breaks that involved moving around allowed me to get beyond the 4-5 hour mark. For 4-5, though, I could do it without breaks or with just one little one.

I have read on here people taking a section just one week after they failed. Is the rule different by state?

    B - TBD
    A - (8/3/16)
    R - 81 (5/24/16)
    F - (7/18/16)

No, you can only take each section once per quarter … perhaps what you seen was someone taking a different section? You can take each of the 4 exams in one window, but you will not be able to take the same section in one window, regardless of state.

I'm sorry but nobody works (actually works) 80-100 hours a week never mind studying for a section and passes.

No. If you've seen someone taking a test a week later either they got their score a week before a new quarter started or they're taking a different section. You definitely have not seen anyone taking the same section twice in the same window.

@Lilla haha wow that's a lot of studying. I guess my attention span is horrible. I research a lot of random things and my mind is in a million places at once so even in the middle of MCQs, I end up browsing another tab after every few questions. But I get a good amount of time studying in every day. Spent about a month and a half on BEC and with just another week or so of review, I'm thinking it will be a breeze.

I know a couple of people who have. I did it in 11 days of only 4 hour a day studying. A week is possible for BEC. I feel the people who struggle with bec don't get technology. But to me it's almost insulting that they are honestly asking me if I know what a router or VPN is |:

@brickell Actually I had terrible study habits. 😛 My standard was 1 4-5 hour study session on the weekend and on alternate weeks I was off on Wednesdays, so I'd do one 4-5 hour study session on Wednesday, too. Studying on weeknights was rare, and my other weekend day was almost always free. So, I didn't do a lot of studying, just put it in one or two sessions a week. Then the last week or two before the exam I'd do more – that's when I'd get the 8+ hour study sessions, the weekend before the exam, and study from when I got home from work till I went to bed (which was still 9 or 10 pm) on Mon and Tues evening before a Wed test (always used a Wed I was off to test). Not great study habits, but they worked for 4 first-time passes, so guess it was OK. *shrug* I didn't see how everyone else studied till I'd already gotten a pass or two my way, so at that point I figured I'd try my way for the last ones, too, before trying everyone else's 24/7 style. 🙂

@CPA2021 Yes, some people do actually work 80-100 hours a week. Maybe not every week, 52 weeks a year, but yes some people do really work those hours at times. I worked public accounting for 1 year, and in the last week of tax season clocked over 100 hours, and decided to quit public. However, I guarantee you that was over 100 hours of actually working. I don't remember (though I do have it on a spreadsheet at home, since I was tracking hours for CPA requirements) my hours for the last few weeks before the end of tax season, but I think the couple weeks before were at least around if not over 80. We were a 2 1/2 person firm (the “1/2” was a college kid who worked part-time) with a lot of returns to complete, so we did what we had to do. My current boss works 6a-6p on a regular basis 5 days a week, and works Sat and Sun too, though not as long of hours on those days. I'm not sure what his normal hours are Sat and Sun, probably not enough for him to hit 80 hours on an every-week basis, but that's just his normal schedule; at bad times, he works more, and I'm sure hits and at times exceeds 80 hours. I'm in my “bad time” right now, and trying to keep it in the 65-ish range, but I'm just 12 days into the 8 weeks of madness; I may end up with some 75-80 hour weeks towards the end. Granted, right now, I'm taking some breaks and hopping on here, like right now, cause I have to clear my head; however, I wasn't doing that when I worked taxes, my boss isn't doing that now, and I won't be doing that if my hours are stretching to 75-80. I've heard you express this opinion before that no one really works 80-100 hour weeks and I'm not sure why you think that, but it's not true. Some people do, truly, work 80-100 hours in a week.
