It was almost 20 years ago since I took Managerial Accounting, but here's my little mnemonic for remembering variance calculations:

PVAQ – to calculate price or cost variance (PV), start with Actual Quantity

Actual Quantity x (Actual Price – Std/Budgeted Price), where positive is a negative variance

SVS$ – to calculate “Stuff” (usage in materials or hours) Variance, start with Standard $/(unit of “stuff”)

Std or Budget $/Unit of Stuff x (Actual Usage – Budgeted Usage), where positive is a negative variance.

Just wondering if I am supplementing Becker and NINJA in the most efficient manner–

Do you guys have any input on how you all are supplementing NINJA and Becker Review for the BEC exam?

Hope everyones studying is going well!

Is anyone using Roger to study for BEC?

    FAR - 87 11/15/14
    AUD - 88 1/26/15
    REG - 91 4/6/15
    BEC - 86 5/11/15

@Pwrcat I am using Roger. My exam is in 20 days and I'm mid-way through section 2. I'm hoping to pick up the pace in the coming weeks and also compliment Roger with some Ninja MCQ for the final 2 weeks of study/review. Although there isn't a ton of material, it's a tough section because the material is all over the map and doesn't flow together the way AUD did.

    AUD - 90 (2.26.2015)
    BEC - 76 (5.4.2015)
    REG - 79 (8.31.2015)
    FAR - 76 (2.22.2016)

    Roger and Ninja MCQ FTW.

@matwmurp – I know a lot of the other Ninja's have told me that Becker's econ section is a little weak and I would agree so I am supplementing it with the Ninja material and Roger youtube videos like others suggested. I have heard a lot of other people just use Ninja blitz or questions at the last 2 weeks as their review to give them fresh material. I am using Ninja questions and notes first because I feel like I have memorized Becker's questions from the last time I studied and hope to use some of the Becker questions as a last review before my exam.

    Hope this helps!

"Repeat after me: “Never take 2 months off from studying!” It is so hard to get back into the routine, but the looming fear of losing REG in December 2015 keeps me somewhat motivated."

About to start looking at chapter 3 in Becker. Hesitant to do so considering the amount of a cluster-youknowwhat some of these pages look like with all of the notes they have on them.

    AUD - 08/04/14 - 83
    FAR - 11/29/14 - 80
    REG - 02/26/15 - 89
    BEC - 05/30/15 - 86

    DONE!

    Hello fellow ninja's,

Am studying BEC for first time, and am using Gleim as my course to prepare. I have started with Cost Accounting and with B18 I have been feeling overwhelmed and forgetting what I learned this week earlier. Is this something like normal or have to spend more time to drill in the concepts?

"Success in life comes when you simply refuse to give up, with goals so strong that obstacles, failure, and loss act only as motivation"

    AUD: 68, 62, 77✔ (expires 10/31/16)
    FAR: 53, 48, XX (retake 6/16)
    REG:
    BEC: 53

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

I have a few questions with my exam on Tuesday I am hoping some of you here will be able to help me with.

    1. Agressive working cap mgmt. Is defined as current assets financed with current liabilities. The result is decreased working cap + increased risk.

What is confusing to me is I later found a question in becker that seemed to contradict this. The question was:

“Why would a firm chose to finance temporary assets with ST debt?”

Anws: matching maturities of assets and liabilities reduces risk.

To me these seems like a blatant contradiction. Now I'm all sort of flustered before my exam. If someone wouldn't mind taking the time to set me straight on wc mgmt. And how it works it will be greatly appreciated

Hey everyone I am taking the BEC in Late May, Just started studying due to tax season, How do you guys study the MC questions. I feel like the first time going through them I am just guessing half of the time. I get like 60% first time through. I passed Auditing with a 77 on the 3rd try, I increased my score by 20 with becker. I am just curious if this is normal or I should slow down going through each chapter. Thanks

    D.

Hey Cruchtime – I am taking mine in late May too. What topics have you covered so far? I am using Becker, and I am starting with Economics. I am not strong in any of the topics in BEC

@jsch8912 I am starting with corporate governance and ops management, sometimes I wonder if listening to the lectures does any good, sometimes I believe just doing nothing but multiple questions like 10 times each is better since I feel like I have to look back in the book for almost every topic anyway.
