@aspiring — I came up with the same answer you did the first two times I did it in the Ninja test bank. The only way I can see it being an increase of $5k is because it asks for REVENUE not net income. I think if it were a net amount, a decrease of $5k would be correct.

There is an increase of $5k because they are bringing in rent revenue.

Just found out I got a 74. I am devastated. Should I request an appeal? Started studying for REG not sure what I should do now. Keep going with REG or switch gears and knock out BEC.

74 has to be the worst score ever!

FARPassed – Credit Expires Aug 2015

AUD – Passed – Credit Expires March 2016

@angel do you feel you could have passed without ninja?

@Candycane, I am so sorry to hear that, but In my opinion go ahead and hit BEC again, You are so close to passing, everything still be fresh in your mind so better schedule BEC On 1st April and keep practicing until then, I am super sure you will pass this time. (That is my Game plan as well If I will fail, will hit that again and than move on to REG)

    Good luck

    FAR: You are down...
    Aud: Surprised me...Thanks
    BEC: 75% work done
    REG: It's 80 but I am 100% done 🙂

@Angelwatch Congrats on your score! That's is awesome! Good luck with Reg! Also, since I'm set to take my exam on Saturday and am short on time, would you say that it would be more beneficial for me to focus on MC questions or on notes/the actual material? I'm vaguely familiar with most of the information but can't really recite stuff verbatim off the top of my head. Did you actually remember everything and every little detail or do you think a general idea would suffice? I'm worried that the conceptual/theory questions will be super specific.

@candycane so sorry to hear that. You're so close! I would keep on with BEC since it's still fresh and sit for it in April. You can do it!

@aspiring1accountant: This exact question has come up a few times in this thread. Most of us are convinced that the all of the answers are incorrect and it was a mistake. At any rate, I suggest just forgetting that one and moving on. Especially if you understand the underlying concept behind it.

@aspiringcpa2014: At the risk of incurring Jeff’s wrath, yes, I do believe I could have passed BEC only using Becker and no NINJA but I think it would have been a lot harder. One of my problems with Becker is that, outside of the practice tests, they don’t give you the option of giving you an assortment of random questions from every topic. And the problem with the practice test is that I want to know immediately if I missed a question. Not an hour later when I can’t remember what my justification for choosing answer A was. If I miss a question, I want to know immediately that I missed it and why I missed it. That’s where NINJA MCQ shines. I don’t advise using it until you’ve completed all of the Becker lectures. But once you do, NINJA is great.

But Becker is a fantastic product. Just very expensive and I do think I could have passed BEC with only using Becker. I passed AUD with only Becker and FAR with only a little NINJA so it, absolutely, can be done.

@fightingforsanity: I’d say at this point you want to hit MCQ as hard as possible and just keep going. To be blunt, if you don’t understand the concepts yet you’re going to be in a world of hurt on exam day. But you’ve passed the other 3 portions so you already know that and will probably be fine. I’d just focus on MCQ as much as possible and if you have areas that you know you are weak on, focus on those areas first.

@Candcane: I’m sorry about your score. As Jeff has said, there hasn’t been a single successful appeal that anyone is aware of so I’m not sure that it would be beneficial. The question is how far along with REG are you? If you’re already a couple of chapters into REG, you might just want to stick it out, take REG in April and then circle back to BEC in May.

My biggest piece of advice for all of you is to simply not take the exam until you feel prepared to do so. I’ve been taking one exam per test window and that has worked for me. I’m in no rush to finish the exam right now so I have had the luxury of spending as much time as I felt necessary reviewing and mastering the material and then going in on exam day ready to knock it out of the park. It’s a balancing act though. You don’t want to take it too early and not be ready but you also don’t want to wait so long that you start to memorize answers or forget stuff. I feel that I could have taken BEC about 2 weeks earlier but there were simply no available seats at my Prometrics site so I took the first slot that worked for my schedule.

With all that said, REG really scares me since I’ve had the least exposure to Tax than any other subject on the CPA exam (other than Government / NFP accounting on FAR which I had, exactly, zero experience with prior to Becker).

@Angelwatch Thanks for your input! I already believe that I will be in a world of hurt on exam day lol. Hoping I can pull this one out though *fingers crossed*. This is my only and last shot to take BEC before I lose credit for FAR so I have to take it regardless.

I took REG last month and think you should stick to how you've been studying. Take your time learning the material and take it when you're ready (if you're not pressed for time). Although BEC has been a pain to prepare for, REG was the hardest section for me (but was also the one I scored the highest on). I think Becker does a good job of preparing you and explaining the material to you. Make sure to focus most of your attention on the tax portion but don't forget to go over the blaw stuff. Good luck!

Alright sorry guys I need a quick dumb 2 minute study break from studying with a fun question. So lets say you have already passed 2 cpa exams and the Board called you up and told you that you have the option of taking your last 2 exams or we can just automatically pass you for the next 2 and put your cpa license in the mail because you're just so awesome. Would you take the free ride or take the last 2 exams on your own?
