A delivery company is implementing a system to compare the costs of purchasing and operating different vehicles in its fleet. Truck 415 is driven 125,000 miles per year at a variable cost of $0.13 per mile. Truck 415 has a capacity of 28,000 pounds and delivers 250 full loads per year. What amount is the truck’s delivery cost per pound?

    A.

    $0.00163 per pound

    B.

    $0.00232 per pound

    Incorrect C.

    $0.58036 per pound

    D.

    $1.72000 per pound

correct answer is B. The truck has a variable cost of $0.13 per mile × 125,000 miles, or $16,250 per year. It delivers 28,000 pounds × 250 loads, or 7,000,000 pounds a year.

Dividing the annual cost of $16,250 by 7,000,000 pounds delivered each year gives a cost of $0.00232 per pound delivered.

why does the 250 loads matter?

It matters because the driver drives 250 loads of 28,000lbs for each load. That gives you your total pounds it drives annually. Then dividing the pounds by the 16,250, you get the amount per pound it costs to deliver.

Keep at it. I'm at 57% and I know it's going to plummet as I tackle Financial Management. This weekend will suck immensely but hopefully it will be the last one….WE can do this!

you know to put it in perspective if you are using becker the first 30 pages of financial management topics are not too bad. The trouble maker pages start with asset effectiveness and efficiency on pages 30 to 38 that have those S*&tloads of ratios to remember. So thats about 8 pages of torture. Then you coast right into working capital, liquidity ratios, current assets/current liabilities, cash and cash equivalents and inventory analysis which are not too bad as well especially if you have already taken FAR exam.

I agree. I was referring to the questions in ninja mcq under fin. mgmt. they are so long and calculation heavy. I'm really struggling with them. But when I did Becker I didn't do too bad.

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

So I've done 500 ninja mcq and my average/trending is a 62%. I'm thinking of going back and re-doing all the becker mcq. I obviously don't understand the material since my score is so low. The first time through Becker I was around 60-70% average on the mcq. What should I do? my exam is next Saturday I don't even want to take it at this point!

@aspire, unfortunately it seems that we're all trending at a below passing percentage. I would encourage you to take the exam next week anyway. For FAR I was trending in the 60's and somehow managed a passing score, so you just never know. Keep doing the MCQ's and pray that it all works out !

@cpatitlein2015 thanks for the motivation…. I think I'm going to move to Becker for the next couple of days and come back to ninja sometime next week. Next Saturday needs to come slower lol
