Just wanted to give everyone an update on that question I posted on pg 1 – Jeff got back to me and said it is an error in the question and it should be a decrease of $5,000. He said it's an AICPA release question, too. It DOES pop up in the NINJA MCQ's, so if you use that keep an eye out for it!

    REG - 71 (2/22/14); 67 (4/3/14); 74 (8/29/15); 83 (2/29/16)!!!
    BEC - 72 (5/24/14); 85 (1/3/15)!!!!
    AUD - 72 (8/23/14); 76 (10/15/14)!!!
    FAR - 77 (5/26/15)!!!

Started in 2013 using Kaplan and failed REG, REG, BEC, AUD. Switched to NINJA suite in Sept 2014 and passed AUD...then BEC...then FAR!
REG took 2 tries but I finally got it in too!
I'm a hard convert - Using NINJA method with NINJA video/book/notes/MCQ

@JS867-5309 They have the same exact question on becker AICPA release 2013 except question reads how will the company's monthly costs change? In that sense the answer makes sense to increase of $5,000

@GotCPA – That would make more sense. Maybe someone started editing the question and forgot to carry it all the way through? I'm just glad I got it right! Cost accounting is a very weak subject for me.

Not doing so good on my MCQs right now. I lost all my lunch study hours from a really busy week at work and am getting worried about my ability to pass 🙁

My plan is to finish this session, then re-write the NINJA Notes a week earlier than planned. I need to get this score up fast!

During the first part of Becker's B2 video lecture, she mentioned that the majority of the exam is conceptual and NOT math. For those that have taken the exam, do you feel that this is true?

I'd say it's almost 50-50 between math and conceptual, may a tiny bit heavier on conceptual. The strategy that worked for me was to go through each testlet and when I came to a math problem I would flag it and move on. I did that for time purposes, and I'm glad I did because I only had about 10 minutes to spare at the end. You definitely want to leave time for the written communication portion.

I can't stand Becker hw questions. so UNNECESSARILY long that I don't even want to start reading, not to mention the BEC lectures are a complete joke and unrelated to any of the hw questions. I get a question wrong, read the answer, address the textbook and guess what? its NOT THERE. Way to go Becker! How do I answer questions that are not covered in your review material?

@GotCPA I realized after going through becker BEC that the lectures are useless. So much more efficient to read on your own instead of writing pointless notes in the margins (which you can barely squeeze in there anyways). You might already know this but the ebook has everything pre-highlighted for you, which helps when reading through it.

Still waiting for my AUD score (11/26) and I've scheduled BEC for 1/5. I didn't take into consideration the anxiety of waiting for my score when I scheduled BEC! So I'm very behind on Becker. Gonna try to finish B1 for Becker tonight, and get through most of B2 tomorrow, which is pretty ambitious

    AUD: 99 (11/26/2014)
    BEC: 1/5/2015
    REG: 2/27/2015
    FAR: 5/18/2015

Using Becker Review, but will add Ninja MCQ for FAR&REG.

I must say after studying for one section so intensely it's been pretty hard to completely switch gears. Any tips?

    AUD: 99 (11/26/2014)
    BEC: 1/5/2015
    REG: 2/27/2015
    FAR: 5/18/2015

@J.kms – try scanning a section of notes before diving into a new section. I've been studying cost accounting and financial analysis so intently, I can barely focus when reading a IT or economics question. I've barely started rewriting the NINJA notes (which start in the reverse order I've studied), and I can already tell its helping me to focus on bouncing topics. Just take 2-5 minutes and speed-read through an outline or section of notes on the new section – after a 15 minute break – and then start digging deeper into whatever works for you (MCQs, lecture videos, note taking, etc).

God I hate how Becker questions are worded. The concepts are so easy but the questions are so vague and misleading (and I'm not even talking about the intentional distracting info) that they become so much harder than they should be.

@angelwatch your forgot unnecessarily long as cpa exam will never have questions that fill up half of page

Is anyone else bombing the MCQs for BEC? I know they are fairly basic concepts, but I'm having trouble buckling down and getting motivation to know the calcs for NPV, IRR, etc. Blah..

    FAR: 79
    AUD: 81
    REG:5/29/15
    BEC:85

    Magatha:

I'm doing terrible with the MCQ for BEC. I just really don't like these subjects at all and it's really hard to motivate myself for them. I've taken Cost Accounting, Finance and Economics but I'm just not a big fan of these concepts.

I think part of my problem is that I, massively, underestimated BEC. Everyone says that this is the “easy” section but right now I'm not seeing it.
