Finished the Economics chapter of Becker. For the most part it's all common sense if you've even dabbled in Economics (Supply and Demand). However, like Audit, there are a lot of language tricks used in the questions. There were quite a few MCQ where I felt that I had to choose the “betterest” answer (a term I created for Audit MCQ).

@dsch9319: In general, the optional MCQ from Becker is much more difficult than the regular MCQ (and this holds true for every CPA section not just BEC). I won't give this as “advice” but for both FAR and AUD, I went through the optional MCQ once to get my 100% completion on the homework and then really didn't look at it again.

First half of the Cavs / Heat game was terribad (I'm from Ohio) so I went ahead and knocked out the first lecture of Process Management in B6.

It's incredible when you're through all the material and in review stage and you buy a supplemental test bank and see questions that look like a foreign language because none of it was covered in your material. This is why Ninja MCQ has saved my rear end on the past two sections.

I'm slightly freaking out, I've done about 1300 NINJA MCQs, and I'm STILL only averaging around 65% on all topics. My trending is 70%, but still, I'm struggling more than I did for AUD AND FAR!! Is this normal or is the NINJA just way harder than actual? I have 20ish days until my exam so I am hoping I have enough time to master these more…

    FAR: 79
    AUD: 81
    REG:5/29/15
    BEC:85

Using CPA Excel, NINJA notes and audio, NINJA MCQs

@magatha — I'm in the same boat as you and have my exam scheduled even before you. I'm trending 70-72%. It's just about hammering out the questions and learning as much as you can. I think some of the Ninja MCQ are very very detailed so I don't worry about those.

Doing maybe 2 more NINJA MCQ sessions tonight, but tomorrow I'm changing tactics. T-7 days and I'm going to spend all day tomorrow doing Cost Accounting/Financial Management questions. Hopefully 100+ questions will help me get those formulas locked in!!

    Exam:I'm done 🙂 🙂 🙂
    REG - 71 (2/22/14); 67 (4/3/14); 74 (8/29/15); 83 (2/29/16)!!!
    BEC - 72 (5/24/14); 85 (1/3/15)!!!!
    AUD - 72 (8/23/14); 76 (10/15/14)!!!
    FAR - 77 (5/26/15)!!!

Started in 2013 using Kaplan and failed REG, REG, BEC, AUD. Switched to NINJA suite in Sept 2014 and passed AUD...then BEC...then FAR!
REG took 2 tries but I finally got it in too!
I'm a hard convert - Using NINJA method with NINJA video/book/notes/MCQ

    Education: Check
    Experience: 3 months left! I hit 4 years on May 30 🙂

For those who have taken this before, how important is the Information Systems and Communications section of the exam? I find the material to be so boring and dull that it is difficult to learn.

    Any help is appreciated.

According to Becker, on average, you can expect to see around 10 to 15 MCQ related to AIS on the exam. I'd say it's worth knowing.

    @AngelWatch

I use Becker as well so I know what they recommend. I was just curious as to what those who have actually taken BEC thoughts were.

On my previous 3 exams I feel Becker told me to study things that never appeared, and told me not to worry about things that frequently appeared. This is a re-occuring theme of my testing experience. I dunno, maybe I'm just unlucky like that.

@doover – According to Gleim 17% of the exam is IT. I probably wouldn't say my first exam was 17% IT, probably less. But who is to say that it won't be tested more in Q1. I do believe it is all in the test you get, so I would know the definitions for sure (input, processing, and output controls, all the systems, job duties, etc.) and what each does. I was weaker on the section of the exam per my score report so I am trying to nail down some of the concepts.

    FAR - 46, 79 (7/8/14)
    AUD - 56, 59, 2/23/15 3rd times a charm!
    BEC - 69, 74 Really??
REG - April, I hope. Fingers crossed!

    Thanks Tarheelgirl.

I'm good with the basics, but I get caught up with some of the minutia. I just need to keep pushing. There are no shortcuts with this exam.

If your ever down to quiz some stuff I'm usually checking this page. I'm not sure of the rules for posting questions. Is it better just to post general questions rather than specific MCs? I noticed some people post specific MCs, but I am not sure if that is just allowed for Ninja MCQ. I don't have those, just Becker.

@Doover – I would know as much IT information as you can, because I promise this exam you don't know which sections the questions will come from. I am always up for quizzing. Seeing questions from different test banks is always helpful and then the explanations from others is great. I don't know the rules either about posting questions. A lot of the mcqs are duplicated from one test bank to the next. I have NINJA MCQ but for BEC I feel like I am wasting my time studying that one because there are so many questions that Gleim does not cover, and Gleim is a very detailed review system. So I would rather not waste my time learning some new that will not pop up on exam day, ya know.

I will be on to till around 10 pm eastern tonight.

    FAR - 46, 79 (7/8/14)
    AUD - 56, 59, 2/23/15 3rd times a charm!
    BEC - 69, 74 Really??
REG - April, I hope. Fingers crossed!

@Tarheelgirl. Sorry I missed you. I've been at it all day. I'm gonna hopefully get through all the material tomorrow and then I'll start my review. Starting Monday I'll be on this thread posting questions, looking for different viewpoints on some of my weak areas.
