I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

@ssiegri — I thought BEC was the easiest too – hence why I saved it for last. I think it was the hardest – at least on the level of FAR. Good news it does get better as you go on, but still hard. lol

CPA as of April 2015!! Woot!

So I'm doing this q and Becker has such a long convoluted way with it's favorite “BASE” formulas to figure it out. Anything simpler/more straightforward way of thinking:

Madtack Co for Nov Yr 1:

    Direct Materials: Nov1: 67,000 Nov30: 62,000

    WIP: Nov1: 145,000 Nov30:78,000

    Production data for Nov:

    DL: 200,000

    Actual factory o/h: 132,000

    DM purchased: 163,000

    Transportation: 4,000

    Purchase returns: 2,000

Madtack uses one factory o/h control account and charges factory o/h to production at 70% of the DL cost……

    COGS for Nov is:

    $491,000.

The base formula includes lots of squeezes, etc. I'm looking for a straight way since my brain doesnt work like that…….

    THANKS!

    Becker MCQ:

    Cost drivers are:

Answer: choice a: Activities that cause costs to increase as the activity increases.

Explanation to choice a….. the cost driver is often non-financial.

Choice c was: a mechanical basis, such as machine hrs, computer time, size of equip, sq footage of factory, used to assign to activities

Explanation to choice c: Often cost drivers are a mechanical basis used to assign costs, but they may also have a financial basis

    How do the two reconcile?

    Thanks as always 🙂

@skrier I did take it yesterday. I have no clue how I did. I felt the same way I did as when I walked out of FAR. There were at least 2 questions that I'm like where did this come from and one I completely guessed on that was computational. I did it every which way I could and still didn't get any of the answers listed.

What makes me nervous is that as the testlets went on it didn't seem to get more difficult. :-/
