jeffKeymasterI have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

Thanks for sharing your study regime 🙂 Keep the non-stop practice going on !!
How are the Wiley MCQ's compared to Becker? Are you using the online test bank or textbook?
Good Luck 🙂

peetreeMember@inferno I know that feel. Computational questions become easy because you know how to attack them. The conceptual questions become more difficult because you know you have to slow down and actually think about every answer.
Computational questions become plug and chug. Conceptual questions still test your comprehension. Good luck! I'll be following in your footsteps in a couple days. Still trying to finish up the final chapters.

ZaqParticipant@nishvik: The Wiley questions, from my past experience from the exams, have been more difficult. I also enjoy how Wiley allows you to do progress exams, get hints, and then see the answer and explanation as you go through. With Becker, you have to wait until the exam is over to see the answer which kinda gets on my nerves.
@peetree: Totally agree. Conceptual answers will definitely test your understanding of the material. Doing enough math and plug and chug starts to make the math questions easy. Knowing the conceptual will definitely be important especially considering the WC requires you to freestyle information based on a given topic without having MCQ choices to guide you.

nishvikParticipantHave a doubt 😕
Is shipping and handling included in determining Variable costs, When we calculate Contribution margin?

barelystayingsaneMember@nishvik, if they are variable costs, then yes, they are included for calculating contribution margin. Remember, for variable costing, ALL variable costs are included in computing contribution margin, not just inventoriable costs.

also i dont understand this mcq from bekcer
Question CPA-05808
Selected information concerning the operations of a company for the year ended December 31 is as follows:
Units produced 20,000
Units sold 18,000
Direct materials used $80,000
Direct labor incurred $40,000
Fixed factory overhead $50,000
Variable factory overhead $24,000
Fixed selling and administrative expenses $60,000
Variable selling and administrative expenses $ 9,000
Work-in-process inventories at the beginning and end of the year were zero. What was the company's finished goods inventory cost at December 31 under the variable (direct) costing method?
a. $23,900
b. $19,400
c. $17,000
d. $14,400
Explanation
Choice “d” is correct. The ending finished goods inventory computed using direct costing is calculated by allocating the total costs capitalized in inventory under direct costing (variable costs) to ending inventory as follows:
Direct Material 80,000
Direct Labor 40,000
Variable Factory Overhead 24,000
Total Production=144000
Total Production 144,000/ 20,000 = $ 7.20
Ending Inventory (20,000 – 18,000) = 2,000*7.20 Ending Inventory 14,400
why dont we take variable selling and admin $9000 in calculating the cost?
If anyone got the reasoning behind this mcq.

JRyan154ParticipantI am having a very hard time wrapping my head the Economics section, specifically supply and demand. Obviously I understand the basic price elasticity stuff, but when it comes to aggregate supply/demand and quantity supply/demand, GDP, inflation, etc. and how they all relate, it's very hard to put together. I feel like I am constantly reading contradicting things in Becker about what causes AD and AS to go up and down. Have any of you had similar experience? Did you find any good study methods to help you understand this besides just reading it over and over again (which I'm currently doing)?
