I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

I used 2013 Wiley books and test bank, but nothing from Becker. So my point was that if Wiley was good enough for the specific questions I had, then surely Wiley and Becker combined would be good enough for any that they throw you! Since your Becker is 2012, that could be the cause for the difference…but my impression is that the overall concepts are the same, and that's what they really test you on.

Thank you @Lilla now that just calmed my nerves. Did you use Yaeger with you Wiley? What did you find was the best method to study for this monster?

Looking for some BEC exam advice. On first read a lot of potential exam computational questions can seem very wordy and tough, also can burn up a lot of valuable seconds. But a lot of the time they are actually pretty easy. Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle a computational word problems that you skipped because your first attempt failed.

@Eliabraham I just used Wiley. I'm on of those crazy people to study with just the books. 😛 Now, to be fair, I did listen to Jeff's audio, too, about once through, but it wasn't a main study source. It was a small supplement to my study…but aside from that, I just used Wiley. No Yaeger, Becker, Roger, CPAExcel… I'm too much of a tightwad to buy those programs. 😛 So, that's why I said that just that little description in Wiley was enough to get me through this exam, so I suspect that between Becker and Wiley both, you'll know way more than I did! As for how to tackle it…my method was to read through my Wiley book, then get as far as I could through the MCQs in Wiley Test Bank – I ended up doing 539 of the 687 MCQs in WTB, and then re-did the ones I'd gotten wrong, so total I answered MCQs 607 times. Then I took the exam. However, this material was fairly familiar for me – my degree is actually a BS in Bus Admin with a concentration in Accounting, so the business topics were a breeze for me! That varies from person to person, though. Just tackle this like any other difficult CPA exam, and you'll get it!

@CP-ET Read the end of the question first to see what its looking for…then go back and get the details. Like, if you read that the goal is to determine the WACC (weighted average cost of capital), then remember how to compute that and what pieces of information you'll need…then read the rest of the question to just grab those facts. Of course read the whole thing to make suer you don't miss something, but if you read knowing what you're looking for, it makes it quicker to get the info you need without getting lost in the rest of it!

studying B2 from Becker right now.I feel B1-B3 will take me forever completing 🙁

Soo many formulaes and notes to make.Hope I can stick to my study plan. Because I usually take 7-10 days each chapter.I watch lecture.the read by myself, attempt MCQ's ,Make notes on MCQ's answer explanation, finally make notes from Textbook.

I feel I am taking a lot of time,as compared to other people.I know everyone has their studying speed, but it makes you feel that what I am doing is right?

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

@nishvik From everything that I've gathered, B2 is an absolute killer. I didn't use Becker, but it sounds like B2 is there to weed out the faint of heart…! It sounds like your method is very thorough, though. You still have a year till you have to worry about any credits expiring, so I'd focus more on quality of study than speed of study! And your method sounds like it's very high-quality, with detailed notes to help you understand all of it. When do you plan to take the test? In October or November? Looks like you've been aiming for 1 per testing window… If so, you've got plenty of time to take 7-10 days per chapter, review, and still be in good shape for your intended test date! The only reason I would worry about the speed is if, in the past, you've felt like you forgot Chapter 1 by the time you finished Chapter 6…but with your thorough study methods, I'd assume that you remember a lot more of Chapter 1 then most people, even if they get through the material in just a few weeks!

    My process has been:

    1.) Read/scan portion of chapter.

2.) Lecture on portion of chapter.

3.) Write notes on portion of chapter.

4.) MCQ's on portion of chapter.

5.) Repeat Step 1 on next portion of chapter.

I've been rushing BEC, but B2 and B3 took me about 5 days each to complete. Mind you, I put about 4-5 hours in everyday during that time. Spend a lot of time on B2/B3. B4/B5 will be MUCH easier to absorb once you get there.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

Also, just took my first cumulative B1-B6 progress test with Becker. Rushed 50 questions during my lunch; bad idea, lol. But I scored a 76%. Got over a 75 in all areas except B6 (this chapter is so damn annoying).

But I'm just glad that I got so many of the maths correct. Shows that the constant repetition of problems have been helping.

Today begins my non-stop MCQ journey. My goal is do non-stop MCQ's with Becker until Sunday. Then next week non-stop MCQ's with Wiley. I took off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week before my exam on Saturday so I think if I just keep going in hard I might have a fighting chance of passing this!

    LET'S DO DIS
