jeffKeymasterI have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

mmp3MemberI think someone else maybe already posted about Becker final exam 2 being much harder than 1. I just took both:
Exam 1
Testlet 1:100
Testlet 2: 91
Testlet 3: 91
Exam 2:
Testlet 1:73
Testlet 2: 83
Testlet 3: 68
Scores seem a little off…the first test seemed heavier on calculations while the second more detailed questions from COSO I/C, ERM, COBIT…all those things I probably didn't pay enough attention too because I have been so focused on remembering how to do all the calculations from B2/B3. Guess I will have to go back and do a little more in depth reading of B1 and B4. I swear the frameworks all sound the same to me! My test is Monday so trying to get as much review as possible in before then. I'm reading on another BEC board that people don't feel Becker mcqs prepared them very well for the questions they got on the actual exam. I'm hoping my test doesn't feel that way.
FAR 92 (2/27/13)

ZaqParticipant@Seattle: Yeah, I'm aiming for “mastery of B2 and B3”, but I know too much tunnel vision into the maths will mean I'll get an extremely comprehensive BEC exam based on COSO and random elements of B6, lol. So I'm just pushing through the last of the B2 questions tonight before pummeling out some Progress Tests.
I think I am going to take multiple Progress Tests for Chapters 1-3 just because I do feel confident in my ability to absorb B4 and B5 and parts of B6. I plan on saving the last week of studying to do straight Wiley Test Bank questions hoping that my familiarity with the Becker questions will have finally started to happen.
@mmp3: Nice scores, man. You're definitely gonna' kick ass. I'm scoring in the low 70's on my SECOND run through of B2 questions so I'm praying that I'll get scores like yours on the Practice Exam eventually.
FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
AUD: 65, 91!?
BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

WolfchickenMemberI just have to say that studying for BEC sucks. I have heard people say it is the “easiest” of the four exams. REG seems like a piece of cake compared to this stuff. Feeling very frustrated with the material and I have only two and half weeks to go to take the exam. I am using Becker. I have listened to all the videos and done all the homework. I am now on the review portion. I am going back to redo all homework. How many times is a good amount to do the homework before taking the actual test? Is two and half weeks a sufficient amount of time for review after going through all the material already? Just want to see where I am at compared to other people. I am mostly just struggling with B2 in the Becker prep. Tons of cost calculation problems that take me forever to figure out……

AnonymousInactive@funtiks Dude I wouldn't go into this without reviewing cost sections. 😐 But you've got a long time still before your exam!! What is your study schedule/routines that make it impossible to get through all the material pre-exam? Like, if you're doing every MCQ and SIM on the topics presented, before getting the learning for the other topics (lectures or reading a book), then maybe changing your study routine a bit would help you get through all the topics pre-exam. Maybe if you share how you study and how much time you have to study, some of us could help you come up with a study strategy that would allow you to at least review all topics pre-exam…? Also, could you schedule your exam closer to the end of the window, to get an extra week to study? I know it costs $$, but less than a re-take!
@Wolfchicken Cost accounting is definitely in a league of its own. lol. But I think 2.5 weeks is plenty to figure it out! Not saying it will be easy to figure out, but you've got the time to do it. 🙂 Do you have a test bank? If so, I would advise working in that over going back and re-doing the homework. Of course everyone is different, but for me, I learn what I'm going to learn the first time doing a problem – doing it over just creates memory of hte problem, not of how to do it. So, I always drill in a test bank where I have a lot more new questions to pull from. (And do it in a way that you get to see the answer right after you do it – “Practice Session” is what WTB calls it, not sure about the others.) I think most people try to review for 2-3 weeks, so your 2.5 weeks is right on target! (My AUD review time got shortened to about 2 weeks, so I'm hoping the 2 weeks end works too. 😉 )

ZaqParticipantDuring my B2 journey of going through those 120 questions again:
Q: Which of the following is a characteristic of flexible budgeting?
I choose D: Can be utilized by several product divisions. WRONG.
Explanation: “Although a flexible budget can be used for several products or divisions, their primary feature is the adjustment of those budgets for different activity levels.”
SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS I WAS RIGHT.

smyoung0521ParticipantOkay, working mcq and came across this one…maybe I am just losing it but for the life of me I can't figure out how they came up with the equivalent units in this problem:
The Forming Department is the first of a two-stage production process. Spoilage is identified when the units have completed the Forming process. Costs of spoiled units are assigned to units completed and transferred to the second department in the period spoilage is identified. The following information concerns Forming's conversion costs in May 20X5:
Conversion
Units costs
Beginning work-in-process
(50% complete) 2,000 $10,000
Units started during May 8,500 75,500
Spoilage-normal 500
Units completed & transferred 7,000
Ending work-in-process
(80% complete) 3,000
Using the weighted average method, what was Forming's conversion cost transferred to the second production department?
How would you compute the eu's for this because I came up with 10,400 which was wrong….
Thanks!
Restarting my journey!
