jeffKeymasterI have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

AnonymousInactive@Yama and Happy…thanks for the response. I've decided to schedule for the beginning of the next window. I thought I could get thru the material, but would have not time to review. I'm might attempt to do AUD at the end of the same window. Just depending on how the studying goes. I think a shorter more focuser route is for me….I've just got to find the mindset to pull it off. I've been dis-interested with BEC so far.

nishvikParticipantHello guys,
New to this study group.Very difficult to study BEC as my second attempt to AUD was very bad and kind of stressed about it.Will be difficult to wait until scores get released.Though i know I fared very bad and miniscule chances of passing.
Well I have started to prepare for BEC and here is one question that I am not able to understand. Its from B1 Operations Mgmt.
Fabro, Inc. produced 1,500 units of Product RX-6 last week. The inputs to the production process for Product RX-6 were as
follows.
450 pounds of Material A at a cost of $1.50 per pound.
300 pounds of Material Z at a cost of $2.75 per pound.
300 labor hours at a cost of $15.00 per hour.
What is the best productivity measure for the first-line supervisor in Fabro, Inc.'s production plant?
a. 5.00 units per labor hour.
b. 0.33 units per dollar input.
c. 2.00 units per pound.
d. $15.00 per labor hour.
Explanation
Choice “a” is correct. The best productivity measure for the production supervisor is 5.00 units per labor hour. This measures
the efficiency and productivity of plant labor, which is within the supervisor's control.
Choice “b” is incorrect. Most of the cost factors are outside the control of the production supervisor.
Choice “c” is incorrect. The supervisor can affect the efficiency of material usage but not the units per pound.
Choice “d” is incorrect. The supervisor has no control over the hourly cost of labor.
So would be appreciable if you all champs can explain it 🙂
FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bankI am Done !!!!

SlyCougMemberHey all. Just started my BEC prep today and will be sitting for the exam in just about 3 weeks. This first section of SOX information was a little overwhelming in Becker, but it seems like one of those things that you just try to understand the principles of rather than memorizing every little detail.
It sure is nice to have a little bit less material after taking REG and FAR. I am studying full time, about 10 hours per day 6 days per week. Does that seem like enough time? I took about 6 weeks studying for REG and 4 for FAR and with the smaller text am shooting for 3 weeks for BEC, but was hoping for any input on whether you would think that is underestimating too much.
REG (7/1/13) 94
FAR (8/2/13) 98
BEC (8/23/13) 97
AUD (10/4/13) 99Ethics (1/14/14) 100
I'm free!!

Let's do itMember450 pounds of Material A @ $1.50 per pound $675.00
300 pounds of Material Z @ $2.75 per pound $825.00
Total: $1500.00
$1500/300 labor hours= 5
It's a conceptual question. It's asking which of the choices would be the best productivity measure that the production supervisor can best control. Units/DL hour is most controllable for the production supervisor.

AnonymousInactive@nishvik Try to think of it like you're the production manager. Which measure (cost per unit of Material A, cost per unit of Material Z, or cost per unit of labor) would you rather be judged by? If your bonus is tied to it, which do you think you have the most control over? The production manager is probably responsible for a group of, say, 8 people who are making this product. You can't buy the materials, and you can't redesign the product to be more material-efficient, so you would probably be pretty pissed if the purchasing department bought Material A for $1.50 when they could get it for $1.00, and because of that, your check is being cut. You have no control over purchasing the materials. However, you do have control over the morale and efficiency of your 8 employees. So, if you were judged based on the hours used (which translates into the total $$ spent on labor), that would seem fair. If you wanted to go shopping this weekend, you could motivate your employees to earn a bonus for you. 😉
@SlyCoug If you got a 94 on REG in 6 weeks and anticipate a good score on FAR in 4 weeks, then I would guess that BEC in 3 weeks will be quite doable. If you're honestly studying 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 3 weeks, that's like 180 hours of study time – should be plenty! It's more than I put in for BEC, though due to working etc., mine was spread over 6 weeks or more.
However, if you've always struggled with Cost Accounting, then that might be cutting it close. If you're kinda worried about the timing, then my suggestion would be to try to get through all the material as quickly as possible at least on a first glance-through, so that you can see if any of the concepts will give you a lot of trouble or not. (Like, watch lectures or read the book once through without doing MCQs or really focusing on knowing it all – just to see what's there.)

AnonymousInactive@Caddygirl7 If you want to give it a shot, go for it. I can only study hard on weekends, and looking back on my BEC experience, I could've pulled it off in a little short of a month. Of course these vary person to person, but if you want to try it, go for it! Worst that happens is you have to re-take it next window, which puts you in the same spot time-wise as if you wait till next window to take it. Of course you have to pay for it again…but as far as the timing goes, all it could do is potentially help you!
