I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

Yes! Just finished B4 and B5. These chapters are such a breath of fresh air. Pretty easy information with extremely minor (but easy) formulas. Super duper easy. I'm feeling better and better about my review of B2 and B3 knowing that I won't have to spend too much time with B1, B4, and B5.

@anjali: Where are you weak in? What was your 2nd score? What software are you using?

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

    HiYa all BEC reviewers!

How are you guys approaching remembering all formulas for this section?

I'm thinking of typing up condensed list of them along with little explanation but it seems so much time consuming.

Anybody got better working approach to this issue?

The best way for me, although it is different for each individual, is just re-writing the formulas over and over again, and even saying them out loud. It isn't the most exciting task, but it works for me!

I'm going to type up a Master List; probably on a 8'14” sheet of paper. Separate the formulas by Chapters. And then post it in my cubicle so I can stare it at whenever I'm looking around.

I have a cheat sheet about Sales Variance formulas sitting right next to my laptop as we speak. PURE SAD DADS and ABA BSA is now stuck in my head along with the MOH Variance formulas and the Sales Variances.

Can someone clarify something for me? I am using the Becker to review for BEC and in B2 under the contribution approach

the instructor says the variable costs are Direct Materials + Direct Labor + Variable O/H + Variable SG&A and the fixed costs are Fixed O/H + Fixed SG&A.

One page later it says that when comparing the Absorption Approach vs the Contribution Approach the only difference is the fixed manufacturing overhead. The variable and fixed SG&A are period costs under both Approaches.

I went back and listened to it again to make sure I did not misunderstand but I did hear correctly.

    Clarification please

I got a 73…was planning on going for FAR in October but maybe I should get back to this one…

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂
