I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

For last year and this year so far, it's got the highest pass rate. Don't panic! You've put in about 4x the amount of “recommended” study time. I'm just ready for this to be over. I've got one more semester in grad school before I start full time at a Big 4 firm

    AUD - 87 4/9/13
    FAR - 85 5/17/13
    REG - 75 7/1/13
    BEC - 82 7/29/13

Now just waiting on experience starting in January

Congratulations on getting a job with the Big 4! And since you'll have a masters degree AND all 4 exams out of the way, you'll be making some serious moolah.

Unfortunately I graduated at a time when we had just hit the recession a few years back and the Big 4 had decreased hiring tremendously (i.e. didn't even recruit on campus)… but, one day! LOL.

That's good to know that the passing rate has been the highest recently; either the exams are getting easier, review programs are getting better, or people are getting smarter/putting more effort in ahahaha.

I'm going to try to take a nap for an hour so I can re-energize my brain. Been studying for 7 hours now and my vision is getting blurry.

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

Good luck to everyone taking BEC this week!

I'm off to take one last practice exam, refresh on some tidbits, and then get well-rested for tomorrow's exam!

I'm going through cost measurement MCQ's and it's kicking me in the backside. I can't seem ‘get' activity based costing problems.

Any tips for understanding these problems? Why wouldn't you use total setup cost incurred instead of total cost per setup when calculating setup cost per unit?

For this question, it says the cost of the equipment is $360,000 and the payback period is 4 years, and thus the annual after-tax cash savings is $90,000. I understand obviously where they got that number, but how is this “annual after-tax savings”?

    AUD: 78
    BEC: 81
    FAR: 72 (TBD)
    REG: TBD (2/14/14) <3

The annual after tax savings is the depreciation tax deduction benefit.
