jeffKeymasterI have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

ZSRizviMemberI just came across this question in IT and I'm trying to laugh it off but man, I'm annoyed.
Which of the following statements is/are correct?
a.
Phishing is the sending of phony emails to try to convince people to divulge information.
b.
A virus is a piece of computer program that inserts itself into some other program. Virus protection software can be utilized to protect against viruses. One of the benefits of such software is that it can be installed and forgotten, allowing security personnel to devote their attention to other areas.
c.
Choices “b” and “c” are correct.
d.
A denial-of-service attack is an attack in which one computer bombards another computer with a flood of information.
Explanation
Choice “c” is correct, which means that both “d” and “a” are incorrect.
LOL. CHOICE C DOESN'T EVEN SAY “D” AND “A” ARE CORRECT. The question asks for which choices are correct; B & C are both incorrect!

@ Future GA CPA
Yeah you're suppose to self-correct the WC. And I think as long as you bring your point across, it doesn't matter if it isn't an essay. They just want to see if you know the topic and if you can present it well.
I took the first practice exam and got 87, 75, 87 on Becker and a 66% on Wiley.
…I don't know what I should think. It worries me.
I'm going to take the second practice exam tomorrow so I get into the “feel” of the testing environment.
Good luck to you too Future GA CPA! This is your last exam; I hope you get certified! 🙂
Another person taking BEC on 7/29!
Let's all hope for the best. I'm completely spazzing out.

Future GA CPAMember@MICHI check the CSO on the AICPA website.
@ZSRizvi: I never do well on the Becker practice exams. Like totally steamrolled. I bombed FAR so badly I was terrified to take it and then ended up with an 85 on the actual exam. Waiting to see if that pattern held true for REG. BUT I just got an 83% on the Wiley practice exam so I'm feeling pretty good! Time to take Becker….And yeah, I have seen that question before— annoying when they do stuff like that
AUD - 87 4/9/13
FAR - 85 5/17/13
REG - 75 7/1/13
BEC - 82 7/29/13Now just waiting on experience starting in January

Wow! I'm going to take that as a good sign. Really hoping that Becker is a lot tougher than the actual exam. 83% on Wiley is fantastic; that's like a 90% on Becker (at least in my opinion; I feel like Wiley questions are a lot harder than Becker ones).
Although, I think on test day it's going to boil down to whether I panic or not. I have the tendency to start freaking out if I don't know a couple of answers because then I'm just like “Great, I failed. Why bother with the rest.” A mindset I will need to change LOL.
How are you studying for the exam today and tomorrow?
I'm just doing MCQ for my weaker areas; rewriting notes on parts that I keep forgetting; and flashcards. Also going through NINJA Audio/Notes.

Future GA CPAMember@ZSRizvi I would agree Wiley is harder than Becker (and Becker is way harder than the real exam) but I'll figure out where I stand after the practice and let you know if I feel like crawling into a hole and dying before Monday haha. All I'm doing is practice questions until my eyes are bleeding or something like that, writing out fact nuggets from questions I've either missed or guessed on or need extra reinforcement and then getting sleep on Sunday night.
Definitely don't give up during the test or start freaking out. Someone told me before I started this long and arduous journey that the time you're really screwed on the CPA is when you don't think you can do it.

ZSRizviMemberSeriously, I hear you on the eyes bleeding. I think I've reached the point where I'm just moving through these questions in a hazy state. I would like to stop studying now as I can feel my retention rate dropping exponentially. However, then I'd just get paranoid that I could have studied more and blah blah blah. So, I will continue as long as possible. LOL.
I envy you though; your journey is almost over. But, you're right about not being pessimistic; just, it seems like a long time for me to accomplish passing all four exams (because I've already put close to 400 hours for BEC; can't imagine doing the same for the next 3).
Are you doing anything for the WC? As in, how are you preparing for that? There's not much I feel like I can do except read the responses that Becker provided and try to digest information so I can regurgitate it on exam day, LOL.

Future GA CPAMemberOh I'm not really paying much attention to the WCs.
And I cannot believe you've put in that much time for BEC. You should be walking out of this with a 99. I've put in nowhere near that amount of time. It's a grueling trek but it'll be worth it. Are you currently working or still in school?

ZSRizviMemberI was working up until about two months ago but then I resigned to focus on my CPA studies. I also just accepted a job offer as an auditor which will be starting in November so I'm trying to get BEC and FAR out of the way before then as well as REG before busy season starts.
LOL a 99 would be nice. Since this is the first time I'm going to be taking one of the CPA exams I have no prior experience to gage how difficult it is. Since the passing rate isn't that high, I'm all nerves and what has me even more unnerved is that most of the stuff in BEC doesn't seem hard which makes me think that curveballs attribute to the low passing rate. Either that or people aren't putting enough hours in?
I know if I walk out of there with a 74, I might need to admit myself into an insane asylum for failed-CPA-exam-takers ahahaha.
