I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

I am using Becker for review material and I wanted to know can someone tell me if they added the Wiley test bank for additional review? If so, did you find it beneficial?

I think, for me, doing lots of MCQs help me to retain the information more than just reading and taking notes alone. But, as someone else posted, when you do a progress test with Becker you are getting the same questions that you already answered before.

    Wiley Pros? Cons?

    Thanks

I got the Wiley Test Bank in addition to Becker. I say it's worth it. Actually, I feel like the questions on Wiley are a bit more difficult than Becker. I've also heard others say that there are questions on Wiley that pop up on the exam which Becker doesn't have.

However, in terms of progress and practice exams, it's still the same. Wiley recycles the questions for its practice exams.

I would still get it if I were you because the questions are of a different substance than Becker (albeit there being some AICPA released questions that overlap in both).

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

    Thanks ZSRizvi.

How did you implement the Wiley questions? Did you study chapter one in Becker and then find that subject in the Wiley test bank and continue to answer the Wiley questions? How did you combine the two?

The reason I ask is because I have bought the Ninja Audio before and the chapters are not exactly in the same order or may not have the same group of subjects covered in one chapter. I tried to pair up the subjects when I was in the initial learning stage and later I just listened randomly.

Can you share how you combined the two different review questions?

    Thanks

So what I do, and this is what Jeff recommends as well in the first few pages of his NINJA notes is, to go through all the lectures and take notes. And then do the questions. It makes sense because let's say, for example, you do the corporate governance questions right after the lecture but your exam isn't until a month (or more) later. Do you think you'll get the questions right the second time around? i.e. will you remember how to do them the review week before exam day?

I was actually doing it that way initially and I realized that a few weeks later, the questions I got right, I couldn't do them correctly because I had forgotten! And it actually takes a lot longer to get through the material if you do lecture and questions (it was taking me 2-3 days to get the homework questions finished).

Now, you don't have to wait until you do all the lectures; try doing B1-B3 and then doing the homework questions. Then B4-B6 and doing the homework questions. That way the information stays fresh in your mind.

But! Your memory might also be better than mine in which case, you can do lecture + hw. It all comes down to what works for you.

As for me; I finished my lectures about three-four weeks ago. I've just been hammering out questions and notes; I've been getting 88% and above on all the homework assignments/exams for the most part (I pray to God that it's the same on exam day LOL).

I've been putting in so many hours that I've actually started dreaming about the exams. Just last night I dreamt I was telling Jeff what new products he should add to his NINJA collection. LOOOL.

I can't wait until BEC is over.

InfernoOmni there are two math-heavy sections in B6, but they're not too bad. Also, hopefully, you don't mind derivatives and hedging. Coming from a finance major, just be glad you don't have to memorize the Black-Scholes model!
