I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

    @ZSRizvi

Thanks for your advice. I will try to condense more and make “lighter” notes. I am always afraid I will not remember what my little abbreviated notes mean, so I seem to over do it.

Can I ask one more question? Do you make flash cards for what NPV and IRR mean so that you can review those concepts?

Or are you one of those “blessed” people who can read something once and you have it in your brain?

I appreciate you information. Thanks in advance.

LOL no way. I am one of the unblessed who needs to read something several times before they remember it. Having said that, I definitely do make flashcards (making some as we speak). And they really do help.

As for being afraid of not remembering your abbreviations, I used to be worried about the same thing. I think the only thing you can do is try it once (for a few pages) and if you go back and don't seem to recall the abbreviations, then go back to how you usually take notes (if they help you better). =)

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

Hello! I'm going to join in. I just took FAR yesterday and my plan was to enjoy the rest of the week study free, but I'm kind of anxious to get going. Weird, huh? Friday is my birthday, so I thought a few days of not studying would be a nice gift to myself. I think I'd rather take the weekend off though. 5 and half weeks to get through this. I took BEC already actually… In 2005. I pretty much just attended the review course and showed up and got a 59. Not encouraging. I'm hoping hard work pays off this time around.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Can someone please tell me whether to include defective (normal spoilage) units in equivalent unit calculations or not?

In the Becker book it says costs are included but they're spread over FEWER equivalent units, which implies the spoiled units aren't included.

Whereas, in the Wiley Test Bank, it says to include the spoiled units in computation of equivalent units.

    I am thoroughly confused.

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

I am using Becker for review material and I wanted to know can someone tell me if they added the Wiley test bank for additional review? If so, did you find it beneficial?

I think, for me, doing lots of MCQs help me to retain the information more than just reading and taking notes alone. But, as someone else posted, when you do a progress test with Becker you are getting the same questions that you already answered before.

    Wiley Pros? Cons?

    Thanks
