jeffKeymasterI have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

AmayMemberHurdle rate = discount rate = minimum rate of return required
BEC: 73, 81
AUD: 85
FAR: 71, 77
REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Jennifer241MemberFor the record, I HATE Financial management!
IT is pure memorization, and I am lucky that I grew up with a very tech savvy father who taught IT to us at a very young age, so most of it for me is review.
I think I need to take a math refresher class, some of these BEP questions really stump me when I have to solve for X and it's in the denominator AND negative, Ugh!
AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
FAR - Dec 4,13 PassLicensed CPA in the state of Oregon

AmayMemberI hear ya girl…but I do think there is value in knowing this stuff if you ever want to have your own business one day (I know I don't want to be making someone richer for the rest of my life). Try to make it fun by adding smiley faces to your notes? LOL (refer to my hurdle rate explanation above =)

ROACHMember@yama, I feel the same way with IT. I usually eliminate 2 choices and guess on the other choices. I”m scoring a solid 75-80% on WTB/Book.

AmayMemberIt's questions like this that really upset me:
Which of the following statements is (are) incorrect for firewalls?
I.A firewall is a system of user identification and authentication that prevents unauthorized users from gaining access to network resources.
II.Firewall methodologies can be divided into packet filtering, circuit level gateways, and application level gateways. Packet filtering examines packets of data as they pass through the firewall according to rules that have been established.
III.Application firewall is another name for network firewall. They perform the same function.
IV.No statement above is correct.
a. IV only is correct.
b. III only is correct.
c. I only is correct.
d. II only is correct.
Explanation
Choice “b” is correct. An application firewall, as opposed to a network firewall, is designed to protect specific application services from attack.
“III” only is correct yet that is the INCORRECT answer, which is what the question is asking for, the incorrect answer, which is why III is correct, even though it is INCORRECT.
MIND BLOWN.
