I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

Can someone explain why the answer is d. and not c.?

Micro Manufacturers uses a performance reporting system that combines both financial and non financial measures to evaluate division performance. All of the following measure operational efficiency, except

    a. Inventory turnover

    b. Days' sales in AR

    c. Operating leverage

    d. Residual income

    Answer: d.

    Thanks!

Never mind…I was thinking of financial leverage, not operating leverage. I'm an idiot.

Has anyone made a listing of what they plan to put down for the brain dump on BEC?

I plan on COSO framework mnemonics, CRIME, IS EAR AIM

    Variance analysis PURE DADS mnemonic

Some equations that I sometimes forget: RI, spread, RROR, etc

Fiscal Policy = Gov Changes & monetary policy = Fed reserve changes

    CCC formula

As I get further into my reviewing stage I might add more depending on what I am having a hard time with, but for now these aids are helping me “quickly” get through my WTB questions. I write them down at the start of each section.

@OkieGasAcct Factoring your receivables essentially means you are selling them because you want to pass on the burden of collecting them to someone else (that's why you have to sell them at a discount and there is a cost to factoring A/R). The receivables decrease because you no longer have them, not because you have collected on them.

So your A/R Turnover for example would increase. (A/R TO = Sale/Avg A/R) Since your denominator decreases because you have less A/R then your turnover increases. It is just a matter of writing down the formula for the ratio they are talking about and analyzing what the situation will do to your denominator or numerator. This is how I get thru these problems.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

How come open market purchases by the Federal Reserve is NOT included in the Govt. expenditures which is part of the GDP formula under the expenditure approach?

Federal Reserve is not the Federal Government

Think of them as their own separate entity.

Fiscal Policy = Fed Gov (Gov can adjust taxes and how much the gov wants to spend)

Monetary Policy = Fed Reserve adjustments (int rates, reserve balances, selling of bonds)

FYI – open market purchases by the Federal Reserve is the Reserve selling bonds, or buying them back. They do this to put in or take more of the supply of money out of/in to the market
