I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

I am getting questions wrong simply because I am not seeing the “EXCEPT” in the question. I need to pay attention to these on EXAM DAY!!!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Nonfinancial performance measures are often preferable to financial performance measures as a means of constructively motivating operational managers since:

    a. Financial performance measures are punitive.

    b. Nonfinancial measures are more easily associated with operational objectives.

    c. Nonfinancial performance measures are not controlled by financial records.

    d. Financial performance measures are not tied to operations.

Answer is B; however I put A. I get that nonfinancial measures are more tied to operational objectives but can someone explain to me what punitive would mean in this context? Becker says financial performance measures can be punitive; however, they are not inherently more or less punitive than nonfinancial performance measures.

    Thanks!

FYI – whoever posted the PURE SAD DADS pneumonic for calculating variances is awesome. My exam is Monday and it is helping me so much. If you're having trouble with this concept look into this. ( I can't remember which BEC thread it was in, but someone linked to a blog that explained it well)

So it took me from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM to get through the first half of Becker's B2 questions (82). Ended with a 63%

    Jesus, that was a nightmare.

I feel like the key is to simply:

1.) Memorize all the formulas and all the variables that create the formulas.

2.) Be able to identify all the variables in a given question.

    3.) Solve for X.

At least, that's how it felt going through them.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!
