I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

TeeTee – the 24 hour trial is well worth it. Even if you have Wiley, some new questions in there.

I'm still gridlocked at 75-80% on full test sessions. Same #'s as my 74 but I feel like I know more. WHAT GIVES?! lol

    REG - 68 | 71 | 88 | 86
    FAR - 72 | 74 | 79
    AUD - 66 | 70 | 77
    BEC - 62 | 74 | 80

    Guess that means I'm a soon-to-be CPA!

So I'm on Chapter 1 of Becker's study materials. Reading the book through my own, taking my own handwritten notes, and skipping the lecture. Finally reached the different cost accumulation systems:

    – Job Order Costing

    – Process Costing

    – Activity-Based Costing (ABC)

    – Joint Product Costing

    – By-Product Costing

I haven't read the sections in detail, but I skimmed over them and the concepts seem pretty intimidating at first glance. Does anyone have any tips or advice for diving into these costing methods? The only reason why I'm not completely overwhelmed from the first glance is because I've been through FAR.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

I learn better with an example, so write down an example of each type of costing technique and study it that way! It works for me.

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

@Inferno, costing isn't that bad. Once you do a few problems you should feel more comfortable. Process costing might be a little confusing though. Yaeger has a very simple explanation on Process. Joint product/by-product is pretty straight forward.

    BEC: 66 | 69 | 7/23/2013
    AUD: 8/28/2013
    REG:
    FAR:

Ah, it wasn't that bad! I decided to give Peter a chance and checked out the lecture.

After a few problems, it's easy as cake. Just going to take a lot of MCQ's to make sure it sticks properly.

Hi I'm scheduled to sit for the BEC exam on Aug 14. I wanted to know from anyone using Becker if you completed the writing sims for each chapter as you went along or did you save them until the end? I am trying to maximize my time to make sure I get through all of the materials and leave myself 2 weeks for review. This is my last exam (hopefully) and some of the sections are a repeat from other areas but a lot of it I will be teaching myself over the next few weeks. I haven't had econ since undergrad many years ago so there will definitely be some catching up. I appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks

    FAR 92 (2/27/13)
    AUD 99 (4/18/13)
    REG 93 (7/5/13)
    BEC 92 (8/12/13)

mmp3 – I've never once practiced the writing portions. If you can write good paragraphs and repeat the question and use terminology that the question is asking you're fine. Even though I've failed I've always got comparable or stronger on writing portion. Focus on MCQ and the content imo.

PS: You'll obviously pass with your prior section scores.
