    I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

    I use Roger, and he teaches Standard-Actual.

    Using that formula I get the answer right.

    @smyoung0521,

    Looks like you are overanalyzing this 🙂

    1. From an investor's point of view, what is the rate of return (general formula)?

    r = Dividend got/Price Paid to company (exclude other fees) = 1.8/35 = 5.142% is the rate of return that investor is getting on this preferred stock.

    2. Now, from a company's point of view, how much in percentage does it cost them in comparison to the proceeds that company got, i.e. what is the cost of preferred stock expressed in percentage (a financing type of charge to the company for raising capital with PS)?

    r = Dividend paid/Net proceeds got = same as above = 5.142%

    Conclusion: Cost of preferred stock kps = rate of return investor gets on that stock!

    Agree with Seattle, the rate of return is probably looking at it from the investor's point of view. But the cost to the company is the same. As long as you are getting the answer right using the correct formula then you should be good 🙂

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

    *This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂
