I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

    Hi,

I just finished giving my Auditing on July 1st and planning to move on to BEC. I started with Yeager for Auditing and in the middle of my preparation i realized its not working for me so i switched to Becker. Now i have both Yeager videos (2011) and becker 2012 videos with me, can someone suggest which one is better? I don't want to waste 3 weeks like i did for auditing to switch to another review.

I have the BEC 2013 wiley textbook too, however i learn best with a video.

    Thanks!

    Finally done!!! Experience-pending. Ethics- Pending.
    Reg 78 / 73/82.
    Aud 74/89.

Sorry to hear about your cat. It is tough, give yourself a day or two and get back into studying. Kids probably need comfort too, sorry about this loss.

thanks @SeattleAccountant. The kids and the hubby have needed some attention as it is really the first time the kids have experienced any kind of death and the hubby had gotten the cat 12 years ago before we were married.

Now back to studying….I get to start corporate governance today. I also found out about an audit job in a friend's father's CPA firm so I am getting my resume ready to send in…..work for the state now so it would be a whole different ballgame. Really want the position though so fingers crossed!

How did everyone that sat July 1st do?? I bet celebrating this holiday weekend was pretty sweet 🙂

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Hey guys, This may be a dumb question but I can't figure out why this question's answer would be the Rate of Return…. Can anyone explain that to me…

A company recently issued 9% preferred stock. The preferred stock sold for $40 a share with a par of $20. The cost of issuing the stock was $5 a share. What is the company's cost of preferred stock?

    5.1%

    ROR = Contract Dividend/(Gross Proceeds-Transaction Costs)

    5.1% = (.09 * $20)/($40 – $5) = 5.1%

hey everyone. I am using becker cpa exam review 12th edition. I have been working on material and labor variances and keep coming out with the opposite answer than the multiple choice questions. Looking back in the book on pg 42 of chapter 2 the formulas say actual -standard but in the pass key on pg 44 it says always remember standard – actual. which one is it?
