I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

Half-way thru my first round with lectures/MCQ. Peter Olinto does great job on BEC 3. I can't believe that ol' Gearty is gone from my life forever. Kinda miss that guy, NOT.

Still had no time to start practicing writing memos. That needs to be addressed adequately b/c I know for sure I suck writing (every time I reread my postings, I always find errors and syntax problems that were not apparent to me at the time of writing).

Tim actually goes over how to write a memo for about 40 minutes in the Becker program. It is the first lecture in the BEC area. I believe it has a question mark next to it, lol. He has some decent tips, but most of stuff he goes over is obvious.

Just felt like sharing a little memory trick.

For memorizing certain formulas, I found that memorizing formulas with an answer you previously remember plugging in is right, helps me remember how the formula should be set up. For example, the cost of forgoing a discount on paying your accounts payable early.

The formula is (Days in Year / (Terms Allowed – Discount Period) * (Discount/1-Discount)

After so many repetitions I remember that (360 / (30 – 10) * ( .02/.98) = .367% If I get a problem that asks for this formula, I know that those facts give me the correct answer. If I get tripped up with remembering the correct formula I will just rewrite the facts that I do remember to help me get the answer of .367 and work from there.

Where is that lecture on BEC sims is located, is it in book only or Gearty goes over it in video as well?

I have 2013 edition and went thru ch 1-3 and did not view/don't have an option of video discussing it but see it written in the beginning of the book. Can you please let me know where to look for, thanks in advance.

I'll try to look for it tonight. Tomorrow is a big day – tying in all the learned stuff for corporate governance, budgeting, variances, rate of return, WACC, etc before starting IT and econ sections. Three, only 3 more chapters left!!!!
