I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

    @dutkas

Good luck to you as well!

I can certainly relate to being anxious for the first test but now let me assure you that those fears were unfounded fears!

Make sure to arrive early, pack a snack/H2O/drink into clear ziplock and leave it on the top of locker to be accessible for a quick sip. Also I always pack Excedrin migraine or other headache meds b/c for some freaking reason i get headaches a lot around the exam days (never had this in school). Don't worry much about Prometrics check-in, most employees are very friendly. Do your best and guessing is OK, don't dwell on questions that are obscure and weird, move on to gain overall passing grade, that's all that matters. You can do it!

Looking forward to your and MCKLT “I passed BEC” posts!

I know how you are feeling! Same happened here. I started the week off strong, finishing chapter 5 in one night, but haven't fit any study time in since then. Work is crazy, while my coworkers are all understanding, it is so hard to go home and not stay late to help. I know its worth it, but after months of this I am SOOO ready to be done.

Well 7 days until exam day, lets finish this strong!!!

    Audit 10/2012- 77
    Reg- 1/7/13- 82
    Financial-2/25/13- 78
    BEC- 74,66,81!

    License pending : )

    Ethics- Passed
    Experience- Done

    Using Becker self study.
**For BEC retake using Ninja Blitz, Ninja Notes, Ninja Audio, and WTB (my Becker expired)

Just got my BEC Wiley book in so I can start hitting it after my AUD exam. I was a little surprised that it is a fairly thin book compared to 2013 AUD and FAR books. I'm sure that doesn't mean the materials are any less difficult.

Well I think its the content of this exam that I don't like, because I just didn't get much done this weekend. I did go for a bike ride this weekend though, trying to get back into exercising.

I watched the IT videos, and re-read my Wiley book for IT. I am working through the Wiley questions out of the book, they seem to be different than the WTB questions, and so far I am averaging 69% but I am only halfway through the questions. I will definitely need to make some notes and some flashcards for this section.

I should be on Economics by Wednesday. I still have not received my ATT from the state, so I may have to take my test later than I wanted to.

BEC actually makes me look forward to studying REG. HAHA

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

Checking in and reporting on my progress or lack of it. Decided to try new approach (see below) but it did not end to my satisfactions so back to old prep ways. During past two days trying to mitigate damage as in lost time due to my “experiment”.

Those that read my posts probably noticed that I advocate & practice very thorough preparation. Over the past two weeks while preparing for BEC, hopefully my last exam, I decided to run a little experiment. Normally, I write flashcards and record almost all missed questions. I did this for three sections that were taken and passed on the first attempt. During review the overall MCQ results are around 80 -91% during the first round and around 85 – 98% during the final review.

So, I thought perhaps I'm doing way too much, as in inefficient/over studying, and decided to forgo flashcards, and wrote only bare min notes for first two BEC chapters. Result: 76 – 80% on the first round 🙁 While it might not be completely bad, it lacks the confidence edge personally desired comes the exam day.

There are literally gaps in my knowledge with doing it the latest way, so last night had to go back to the old studying method and completed flashcards, read book carefully, took sufficient & copious notes. Too much work but I really don't know any other better way to do this 🙁 Does it really have to be this laborious?!

Conclusion: Better stick with hard but effective studying rather than worrying about being efficient and compromise passing chances.

I'm relatively new on the forum…as in I just registered today. I've actually been lurking about and just following posts but a question struck me and I'm actually curious to know what people will say.

The trend I've seen with many posters, in terms of their scores, is that there are either the ones who exceed exceptionally (as in the high 80s/low 90s) in BEC/the other exams and those who have taken the exams 3, 4, 5 times and continue to fail.

Since I will be taking BEC at the end of July, and it's the beginning of my CPA journey, I would like to know is the exam insanely difficult? The thing is, the topics covered in Becker, back in college I breezed through the classes so I know the material isn't hard (I just finished the final chapter). But what worries me is, even though I don't find the material to be difficult, why are so many people failing? Is it one of those exams that just likes to mess with your mind…you know, “I look like I'm easy but when you get closer I punch you in the face”?

Or is it that those who are failing aren't studying enough/have other commitments preventing them from studying?

I don't want to go into the exam having unrealistic expectations so if someone could enlighten me a bit, I would appreciate it (before I get ulcers from all the studying).

    Thank you!

EDIT: SeattleAccountant, that seems to be a very effective method of studying. Mind sharing (please) what your complete process is as well as what exactly you tend to put down on your flashcards?

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.
