I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

    Hey all!

I think the biggest focus for WC would be the topics that do not have equations/calculations, like Corporate Governance and IT. There are no long drawn out sims to test our knowledge of the calculations, so I think MCQs will have a lot of calcs.

Maybe a big topic like Econ, even though it has equations, we should be able to hold a conversation regarding the subject matter.

That's my goal. Have a “conversational” knowledge of the topics regarding WC. But a working knowledge of all equations.

Going through Capital Budgeting tonight, yay!

Up at 6am Saturday morning to catch up on my studying! Going to finish Planning, Control & Analysis today, and then start on Financial Risk & Capital Budgeting. I have noticed that there is quite the overlap in some of these chapters.

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass

    Hey Jennifer!

Back at it today too! Finished Risk Management last night (as planned!) yay!

Today is going to be killer as I go HAM on this material.

Starting with Financial Management, then Performance measures and I'll finish up with Cost.

I must say I am LOVING the overlap. AUD in Corp. Governance. And when Cindy mentioned bonds I was thrilled! And considering depreciation how it doesn't effect Net Value Method… unless the problem states taxes are taken into effect. I remember studying for this exam a year ago and being overwhelmed with all of that. But after FAR and REG, this is just second nature. Today I am thankful that BEC is my last exam. Smallest amount of material, WC instead of SIMS, and overlap!

There is also quite a bit of overlap between each of the chapters themselves within BEC. If you are doing Yaeger do they use the Wiley books or have their own?

In the Wiley book, they refer to the module and section when they are going to expand on a topic further. I really like this because I go back to that topic and re-read it just to make sure I have the basics before they expand on it further. Often times they just go over it again and add a small bit of information to it, so its kind of like review!

Yaeger uses the Wiley text. Right now I'm only referring to the 2011 text, and the Wiley text doesn't do that. But Cindy points it out as she goes through the material. I'm convinced that the publishers of Wiley have watched Cindy go through their text and they adjusted the way they present the material based on her methods, lol.

I have the 2013 text and will use it when I get to my review. 🙂 I love how they broke up the text with a reference to the problems associated with the paragraphs just read. That is how Cindy walks through the text.

We are sooo going to pass 🙂

I am using the 2011 Wiley text as well, you may not have gotten to a spot that refers to another section yet. (It puts it in these colons)

We are definitely going to pass!

I am surprised at how fast you can get through the material. I constantly have to stop, reread it, make my notes. It took me 2 weeks to get through the Econ chapters while I was working. I have only been speeding through the chapters this week because I am on vacation from work. You are super-woman!

Oh! Well I must be skipping over those parts then? I'm just following along with the videos, not actually reading it all thoroughly. I'm watching the videos at 1.3 speed so it doesn't take as long. And I'm not writing completely new notes. My first time through, I wrote really good notes, 2 spirals worth. So I'm just following with those notes to reinforce the concepts and then jotting in additional stuff as I go.

Didn't you say you don't move on until you are completely comfortable with the topic? Are you working the problems too?

That would be very time consuming!

I don't wait until I feel 100% to continue. I use the first go through as an introduction and make sure conceptually it makes sense to me and I don't do any homework (other than following along with the video any problems they use as examples).

So it's really quick this time around. I budgeted 2 weeks to get through it all. Next week will be tedious. Then the final 2 weeks are just pure hell of MCQ, MCQ, MCQ until I'm ready to throw my computer out the window!

    AHA!

Yeah our study methods do differ tremendously. I watched the video's, then I do the reading in Wiley book, take notes and make flashcards, then I do the required MCQ's from that section. Anytime I get an answer incorrect I look at why. Then I plan to hammer our questions in WTB during my final 1-2 weeks of review.

I keep my flashcards in my purse, so I can review them on my commute or on break at work or during lunch. I even write out examples of calculation problems on them so that I can see the calculations all the way through. (Visual learner here)

It is very tedious, but the other way just wasn't working for me, I have to be able to apply what I learned to the questions immediately to understand it all.

You say next week is going to be tedious, what will you be doing differently?
