I have a question that I hope you can help me with…. I purchased the Becker CD’s and installed them on my PC. I have taken and passed all but one of the exams (BEC left).. I was checking to see if my software was up to date and noticed an expiration date of November 2013.. Does this mean my software ( downloaded from my CD’s) will no longer work after November….or will it no longer be supported but I can still take practice exams and do study questions etc?

Chapter 2 & 3 are indeed beasts. My strategy is to just get best understanding possible on these two chapters. My main focus like others have said, is chapter 1(corp Gov), 4 (IT), & 5 (Econ) = 60% of the exam. Get those and a decent understanding of the rest and I think you have a good shot.

@Seatleaccountant what youtube videos do you use or like? I could use some recommendations for those.

I have done my first week videos with mds system and it was all over cost accounting. That was my favorite accounting class but now I am having a lot of trouble understanding some of the concepts. So far with the homework I am number 31 and out of that I have literally gotten 11 wrong! I am feeling stupid and terrified. This is my first time studying for any of the CPA exam so I have no idea if this is normal or not but I am dragging out my old textbook today.

What are you having issues with? And 11 wrong out of 31 in your first week of studying? That is good, haha. The cost accounting material is probably the most “difficult” part of BEC, in my opinion. Now if you were days away from taking your exam and still getting 60s on your progress assessments that would be a different story.

I am using old Becker books as well. Also have Roger cram, Wiley book, Wiley test bank, CPA Excel (Full version), and NINJA notes.

My teens come and bother me all the time for the darnedest things. Finally I put up a sign on my door that says “Unless you are dying or the house is on fire, GO AWAY! Study ZONE. SSSSssshhhh” I have to say it really works, it's a reminder to them to go see their dad if they need something 🙂

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

Wow, sounds like my house, only my usual questions are “Are you in mortal danger?”, “Do you think I'm in mortal danger?” If I cannot get enough peace at home, I head to the library where quiet is enforced. It's only me evening study sessions that seem to be interrupted. I work full time, and have 6 kids, mostly teenagers, 4 that are still at home. So I also have other people's kids around the house too.

The other things I am adding to the mix this time are, view something motivational daily, and rewarding myself for a study session well done.

I have to go to the library to get out of my rut of being at home and getting easily distracted and spending my time wisely on studying. It seems to be working so far with going to the library to study and really get things done. Economics is just really annoying me now, the questions in my book just have nothing to do with what I was studying, so I'll be spending lots of extra time on these questions.
