I find this section least interesting. Whenever I read or watch videos on IS i am not able to concentrate. Any advise on how you studied it?

    IS is like IT, correct?

Jeff does a great job with his IT lectures from his BEC-Ninja MCQ, NINJA Book, and NINJA notes (+audio). You just have to write your own notes using all your CPA materials. I wrote 20 solid notes for IT topic alone utilizing both my Becker and NINJA materials. I was doing that while pounding MCQs in-between writing and mastering my notes.

    Good luck.

Amor D thank you for responding! I have Ninja MCQ, but I usually use them after I go through Wiley MCQ-s, since they have more detailed explanations. How do you use your notes? you write them first and then you go over them again?

I feel your pain. I just took BEC in January. It's one of the drier parts of that exam.

If the videos aren't doing it for you, …. flashcards, then more flashcards, then do 300 MCQ's and make more flashcards to help you remember the things you got wrong, then more flashcards until you have most of them memorized, then 300 more MCQ's, and repeat. That's what got me through.

If you feel like you're still in the early stages of understanding the chapter, or if you're having a hard time with it, my last resort is always to just type out the chapter. Literally type the entire chapter into a Word document. It's boring as hell, but it ensures that you have to at least look at every word in the chapter. Do that a couple times and you're going to absorb some of it.

Last last resort? You're going to have to crush every other section.

You passed FAR on the first try. You can do this.

Now, can you tell me how to pass REG?

    AUD - 81
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 86
    REG - 82
    Ethics - 78, 88, 94

Do.  Or not do. There is no try.

Hosmer thanks for your advice!I think ill try typing most boring chapters (which is almost all of IT to me) , I just cant make myself read anything about IT!

As for Reg, I dont have a particular advice on how to pass it, its a pretty straightforward exam.
Just make sure you cover all sections (make notes+MCQ-s) and you should be good. I failed first time only because I didnt cover BusLaw and majority of Individual Taxation. Once I (more or less) studied/familiarized myself with these sections , I passed. IMO, REG is not hard to pass provided you studied all required sections

I write my notes from the book and MCQs that I feel like worth reviewing and remembering for my final review in the later part of my study or when getting closer to the testing date.
I am not an IT geek so I struggled a lot with BEC especially with IT. I am visual learner so drawing the theories helped me recall better, improve my score, and finally pass BEC.

Thank you. I broke those notes down from Jeff's NINJA MCQs/reference guide/sources.

I might not be very helpful because the IT section for me was pretty intuitive despite me never working in that field, but I would say because it's mostly concepts-based, with little in the way of calculations, you'll just have to power through the MCQ, committing as much to memory as you can, maybe making notes of the questions that particularly trip you up every time.
