    Hey guys,

Looking for a little advice here…

I have BEC in 6 days and i am trying to find a strategy to get through the remaining 6 days effectively and efficiently to maximize my success chances. Currently these are my stats…

    Total Questions: 1367
    Questions Not Answered Correctly: 903
    Questions Not Seen: 670
    Total Question Attempts: 1068
    Avg Score : 61%
    Average Trending 73.5%
    Total Hours: 53
Questions Answered Correctly By the adaptive learning function: 34%

I have a 6-8 hours to study each day and I have Thursday and Friday off work so that leaves me with 2 6-8 hour days and 4 all day sessions (All Day Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday) – what do you guys think I should do to better my chances – should I focus on individual sections, new questions what? I am so confused since this is my first time really using Ninja vs. CPAExcel so any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Rick

PS – I have been grinding questions using only the “MCQ” function of pulling questions in sets of 20 each and I have never once used the “custom + sims” feature – what you guys think?

Should I push my test back or is this even doable?

My approach with MCQs has been to see all of the questions at least once. For this reason, I do use the ‘Custom' feature and select ‘New Questions Only' until I have seen all of the questions. After that I focus on areas where my scores are weak, usually < 75%.

I found this process helpful for me personally, and it's something you can give a shot. I am going through my BEC lectures at the moment, so I'll soon be hitting MCQs!

    Good luck!

Move out your test and give yourself some quality time to study. Not sure how long ago you started studying but that to me looks like stats 3 weeks in, with your exam in another week I don't think 4 weeks total will be the magic number for you for BEC. I'd shoot for 6 weeks total study time of 20-25 hours per week.

So I guess the big question is it better to just keep running the adaptive learning from here on out and plugging away or is it better to try the new questions – I feel that if I block off a whole day of studying I see roughly 200 new questions a day and if I do about 6 or so hours of a night of grinding I see on average about 100 new, I guess at this rate it is better to just stick with the adaptive learning and let the program do it's job?

If you do “new questions” does it still factor in the adaptive learning allocation of questions or is it just 20 totally new questions in any particular order?

Yeah I have read the NINJA book cover to cover took tons of notes and also listened and read the ninja notes dozens of times – I just am overwhelmed as to what direction to go at this point.

I have also done WileyCPAExcel program 2x so I am trying this method strictly on ninja..

4 full days of studying is a lifetime. Don't you dare push that test back. I am certain that I added 20% to my FAR score in the last 4 days of studying. You know where your strengths and weaknesses are by now. Concentrate on the weaknesses. I spent an entire day on just B2 3 days before my BEC test. Literally 8 or 10 hours of studying on 1 chapter. You got this, just identify and concentrate on your growth areas until the test and you will get great news in a few weeks.

Bhunt do you think I should just stick to the adaptive learning or gun for the new questions and run through those until I see every question – I see you are a CPA in Louisiana and I am in Louisiana as well just trying to decide on my best plan on attack. I definitely don't want to push it back any further worst case is if I blow it in this quarter i can try to salvage it in the 1st Q of 2017.

@Frederick, I just got my license last week! So, I'm still on top of the world.

If you can get through the rest of the questions you haven't seen before Friday or so then by all means go through them. It could only help. But I am actually a big believer in spending your last weekend fine tuning your weak areas. Starting Friday, I would start customizing my MCQ sessions and make sure the vast majority are on the sections I was doing worse in. For BEC I remember that my trending score actually went down that last weekend, not up.

In my opinion, because you have read through the book, notes, and listened to lectures, you should at least go through the unseen questions at least once. Just grind through AT LEAST half of them. They should be questions you’ve read/listened on. If you were concentrating while reading and note taking, for some of the questions, you should be able to fly through. Afterwards, you should focus on your weaker areas from those multiple choice so that you can concentrate on the areas you weren’t as strong in.
