So I heard a rumor this morning that the AICPA’s Board of Examiners have launched an inquiry into why BEC pass rates have increased to an all time high of 50% which the AICPA said does not allign with their expectations. They consider this massive improvement in BEC as an anomaly. Shouldnt the AICPA be happy that candidate are becoming more knowledgeable and enlightened ?

So if AICPA is not happy that people are passing, then what are the goals and objectives of the AICPA ? to fail candidates regardless of how well they do?

The AICPA should just chill because im still struggling to pass BEC and increasing the difficulty of BEC will add more troubles to this Journey.

Has any of you heard this rumors? Do you think more materials will be added in the future?

    REG -63│ 84!!
    BEC- 59│70│ 71 │78!
    AUD- 75!
    FAR- 87!

I feel like everyone comes out of BEC feeling like they've been obliterated.

Ninja's were given extra gear and armor so they make it out alive, but for the rest… God bless their souls.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

I too shake with fear at the thought of having to take BEC again. A harder version of BEC especially!

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

I am still shocked at how people score in the 90's on both Audit & BEC lol! But any who……..

I think I could have done better on BEC had I studied the way I did for AUD. I squeaked by and my score showed for it.

But I don't think it needs to be more difficult.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    FAR - 53('10), 8/25/12 79 PASSED!
    REG - 66('11), 69('12), 12/06/12 77 PASSED!!
    BEC - 58('10), 74('12), 01/05/13 77 PASSED!!!
    AUD - 43('11), 66('12), 69('13), 74('13) 7/29/13 85 PASSED!!!!!

Huh!?!? Seriously?!? That's BS! “AICPA expectation”……

When I was preparing for FAR, BEC, and REG, I did WAY better on MCQs the first time for BEC, however, I did the worst on MCQs on BEC comparing to my other exams…

    FAR: 4 stronger/1 weaker (NFP – maybe 4 questions max!)/comparable on SIMs

    REG: 4 stronger/2 comparable/stronger on SIMs

    BEC: 2 stronger/3 comparable/1 weaker/stronger on WC

And they are telling me the BEC was easy?!?

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

@W_Hamilton – while that could certainly be the case, I would argue the complete opposite. I definitely found BEC challenging, but thought it was nowhere near the level of difficulty of FAR or REG (or even AUD, but I barely studied so I can't be sure lol). I think the pass rate is higher because the test is easier than the others.

Some good questions posed in this thread. I don't think we will ever really know the whys and hows of the AICPA given how they keep details under their hats.

It looks like everyone has some time to take or re-take BEC until they make changes sometime in 2014. Maybe they will wait it out to see if it was truly an anomaly before deciding what changes to make.
