    HOLY. HELL.

I just took BEC this evening and got my ass handed to me.
I was fairly confident after FAR and AUD and got an 85 and 84 respectively but I will be utterly shocked if I pass BEC.
I studied Ninja MCQ- completed all questions but maybe 100. My average was 72% and was trending 82% before I ran out of time.
Some questions on the exam I had never even SEEN the material before. And the icing on the cake was that 2 out of the 3 WCs I had ZERO clue on how to answer since in my opinion they were more FAR material than anything I studied for BEC. And unfortunately I studied FAR so long ago, I couldn’t remember much on the 2 obscure topics.
    So frustrated right now… =-(

    FAR- 85
    AUD- 84
    BEC- 86
    REG- 89

    CMA Pt 1- 420
    CMA Pt 2- 370

    FAR 4/24/16 --85--
    AUD 7/5/16 --84--
    BEC 8/30/16 --?--

I took BEC today. Overall I didn't think the test was terrible, I was going in thinking it was going to be insane but my first testlet was easy, second was medium and third was medium/hard. Definitely had a lot of calculations but nothing out of left field. I felt the technology questions were pretty fair, nothing obscure or that I had no clue about. The writing was ok too. I felt like i at least had something to contribute on the 3 questions but I don't trust myself on these tests anymore. I've taken REG twice and the 2nd time I took it I for sure thought I had passed but ended up with a miserable 73. Guess I'll know on the 20th! 🙂

Took BEC today — I wasn't ready for the exam since I hadn't nailed down some of the formulas but I couldn't reschedule. Other than the the equation questions, I felt good on the IT and COSO questions – nothing too crazy. Not knowing the equations and guessing at them will defiantly hurt my score. Felt I did good on the writing I knew each of the subjects pretty well and ended up with over 40 mins remaining.. Will know more on 20th!

There was a calc I drew a blank one, one that I know I did backwards (realized when I was on my third testlet, but it was too late to turn back). I even said dang real loud in the test center when I realized it #LOL! My IT/Coso questions didn't really seem from left field…I don't think I got them right or anything, but I knew i seen a few of them on either Gleim, Ninja, or Wiley. I was freaking out during my 1st testlet, I guess we can call it the jitters, so I made myself go back and do it again after I got through all of the questions. I know I should have given myself more than 12 days to prep (at least this was a retake), but I just wanted to get it in before the window closed. I definitely studied myself stupid, and I know I missed mad free points. I hate taking these things with a fried brain. BS'd the WCs as usual. I would hate to prep for this one again, but I'm kind of expecting it. We will see what happens on score release night.

Sat for the BEC today and I was moderately difficult for me. There were a lot of COSO, IT and cost accounting questions, some I knew others not so sure about. Also, I spend too much time with the 4 testlets and not nearly enough time with the WCs as I only completed 2 of the 3.

I passed the audit and reg sections with flying colors and I felt good when I left but this BEC – “I got a bad feeling on this one..”

Ugh. I didn't get the obnoxious IT/COSO exam everyone else seems to be getting, but I don't feel much better 🙁 I hate BEC so much!

First testlet was a gift from the heavens. I navigated that with confidence and was unsure of one question (obscure AF IT question no less). I was excited and then bam – second testlet was ridiculous..like I knew maybe three answers. Super calculation heavy. But like calc on calc on calc. I started to lose focus as my brain drained because there was not a single freebie in this testlet save for a few COSO questions. But that's essentially my job so I know those way too well. I spent way too long on the second testlet because I started panicking when I realized I didn't even know how to begin to solve some calculations so I had to straight up pick a number.

The third testlet seemed mixed. No real freebies. I got hit with the same calculation (that I couldn't remember for the life of me). FFS. Maybe I was just super exhausted. I was left with 40 minutes for the WC. I slammed three out in record time. Not worried about those, as this is my third attempt with BEC and on my last failures I got above passing.

71,73, – really hope I can pull this off with a 75. The only thing that gives me confidence is that it got more difficult, whereas on my first two tests I know the difficulty didn't increase. But man, I am worried I didn't answer enough of the brutal questions right. I really don't want to take this exam again. Sacrificing a goat or something of the like for a pass on 9/20.

Good luck!! I hope you passed too! I'm taking it on Saturday and hopefully it will be my last one as well. I am so ready to have a life that doesn't involve studying day in and day out. I'm sure it's like this for everyone, but I don't even have to tell my friends/family what I'm doing any more. They answer their own question with “Let me guess? Studying.” The day I can say “No more studying!” will be such a blessing.

I feel pretty confident on the calculations except all the ones in B3 (I'm using Becker). Would you advise knowing those equations cold in B3 (Asset Effective and Efficiency, Capital Budgeting, etc)?

For the WCs, I completed 2 of 3, leaving 1 completely blank. If I did alright on the testlets, is it possible to pass?

I've resigned to feeling like a failed this one. I studied for a good month and a half just questions without practicing the WCS. I'm always writing memos at work so I thought I could just wing it. Bad move!

If I failed, it's not such a big deal. I think have a solid enough foundation to work on my weak areas and come through next time.

    Hi Kmerch4 –

I know it wasn't directed toward me but I would know every equation in that chapter cold. Mind you, you won't be tested on 99% of them, but you will be tested on one – and likely to get it thrown at you over and over again! I made this mistake the last time I took BEC. I got a 73. I was “stronger” and “comparable” in all categories but “weaker” in finance.

That's what I hate most about BEC. I think I had two econ questions the entire exam – both I had to guess because they were written in a completely different language, but they only test you on so many things and it's such a wide range of material. Also, I feel like you can get lucky with your exam compared to someone else with that sheer randomness of material. You just never know. All I know is that I really don't want to study BEC again!!

Good luck to you on Saturday – I hope you can soon say “No more studying!” that too is a dream of mine – and everyone around me!

Thank you very much for the advice! I feel like it's a gamble not to know every single formula, but then again, it's like how in the world do we memorize all these?! I felt like this with FAR, but I don't remember it being to this extent. I failed FAR the first time with a 71 and it was because I was “weaker” in an area that I didn't have the calculations down cold. You're most definitely right, you just never know.

BondVillain – I don't know about BEC, but I managed to pass FAR with a 79 without having time to answer anything on 3 of the sims FAR. I was shocked. So hopefully, the one you didn't get to was the pretest one. I'd definitely say there's still a possibility of passing.

Ok. I took the exam today. It was my first any CPA exam taking experience and it was OK. I used Becker, Ninja NOTES, Ninja MCH a little( should use it more) and two days before I bought Ninja PLUS. Actually It saved me on Economic and IT part. Love the way it created: video lecture +ppt on a side. Like at school. For final review- perfect combination! First 10 minutes before I started the test and should read some policy and agreed to it, i was writing down all formulas (variances, ratios) that I wanted to have in front of me. Kind of extra 10 min. LOL. 1st two questions scared me… It was calculations. I decided to go over theory question first and then do calculations. So by the time I returned to it I was calm and could remember the formulas. My weak part was Fin management. Cost accounting was ok, like 10 questions, Corp gov maybe about 15, IT was straight-forward, mostly definitions oriented… I struggled with Fin Mngt and i think computer got it as I had many questions from B3. Also Economics part , like 15 questions. WC were ok. Two of them BEC oriented – so I was writing anything I know about it, and 1 was more accounting topic. So I didn't put a lot of effort on the last one thinking that this one is maybe “fake” one 🙂 This is my first experience. I was getting ready for about month, last 6 days like 14 hours a day, and if I dont pass, then I have to be at least somewhere close. So for the next time I will kill Fin MNGT part and ECO 🙂 Let's wait. I wanted to start to get ready for the next exam but not sure about this one. What are you guys usually doing? Getting ready to retake or starting a new one? Thanks for advise!

Took BEC today. I spent about 90 hours studying (60 with Wiley and 30 with NINJA) and think I either passed, or if not it'll be closee. There were certainly COSO questions, one of which I had an acronym for which was helpful. There were a lot of IT questions, two of them I had to think a lot about. One of them a definition, which tried to be tricky with words like blueprint, framework and resources. There weren't any GDP related questions which I'm glad. The calculation questions were a bit tricky, especially one which you had to know how to use one ratio, a percentage and turn it into another ratio and then calculate the income. The writing sims were all BEC related and easier than I expected. I for sure nailed 2 and the third I think what I wrote was reasonable after doing some research online after I got home. Next is REG for me and then AUD, hopefully all before the changes.

Anyone still waiting on their score? I checked this morning and it wasn't there. Waiting till I get home from work because I haven't slept since 230 and I'm in a miserable mood. Hope I'm not in the BEC bubble!
