HOLY. HELL.

I just took BEC this evening and got my ass handed to me.
I was fairly confident after FAR and AUD and got an 85 and 84 respectively but I will be utterly shocked if I pass BEC.
I studied Ninja MCQ- completed all questions but maybe 100. My average was 72% and was trending 82% before I ran out of time.
Some questions on the exam I had never even SEEN the material before. And the icing on the cake was that 2 out of the 3 WCs I had ZERO clue on how to answer since in my opinion they were more FAR material than anything I studied for BEC. And unfortunately I studied FAR so long ago, I couldn’t remember much on the 2 obscure topics.
So frustrated right now… =-(

@c1oth I had one variance question lol..I had 1 or 2 assignment questions relating to ABC. Heavy IT/COSO for sure. I think because there is an overlap between the two subjects but theres were things in IT i never saw before. Honestly, if i need a retake I would read the book and scratch the MCQs because the MCQs are heavy on computations and the actual wasn't. HEAVYYYYY IC/IT.

@AMGcpa Technical as in u'll get questions that were probably addressed in one minute sentence of the reading material. So if you just watched videos and did MCQs you didnt see it. If you have a general overview you missed alot of easy points. Some questions I looked up afterwards and was like wtf??! Had i just seen one question relating to it I would have gotten it correctly wo a problem. But they can ask you something thats in the fine print. You can now what a detective vs preventive control is but still be like whatttt is this…you can know what a physical control is vs an application control is and whatttttt?? useless really…I didnt have a single IT segregation question. Didnt have a single Corp Gov question…basically any MCQ test bank you have u can just light it on fire and flush it bc its absolutely useless here

That's the exact emotion I felt yesterday; feeling like I had my a*s handed to me and then later sheer rage! You express my feelings way better than I ever could! 🙂
Prayerfully we will all see a pass on 9/20. My bday is 9/19, so it will be a happy or sad ending.

I feel like…the passing rate early in q3 for BEC was too high. So now we are punished with the IT exam of bullcrap.

I took BEC today as well and I'm just glad I came out alive. I was almost tearing up halfway into the exam. I don't know what else I could have done to prepare better. Also my first testlet was medium, then it got hard and then easy. I think I did fine on the WC. I just don't know if I should start studying again or even wait for the results to come out.

I agree, plus my success rate for passing in the last 10 days of the window is 0 for 2
:(. All my passing scores have come while sitting in the middle of the window. Plus, I live between two Prometic centers and when I sit at on center I fail and the other I pass. It may be just sheer coincidence, but if I fail this one, I'm sticking to my passing pattern from now on. 🙂

I'm taking BEC Saturday and I feel SO under-prepared. I'm reviewing WACC right now, how important is this topic?

Also, did anyone review the AICPA 2016 Newly Released questions before taking the exam, and if so, was it helpful? I know IT and COSO seems to be the big ones so I definitely don't want to waste the little time left reviewing topics I won't even see.

One more question, how did you guys prepare for the WC section?

I read over every WC (11-12 total I think) in the Wiley book but never actually did any of them. Just tried to absorb as much of the material as possible. If you're familiar with every section of the BEC exam then it should be easy to deduce which WC is the pretest and which one is not.

As far as WACC is concerned, you definitely need to know it. How heavy you get tested on it is one thing, but you do need to know it. There could be one formula that they throw at you 3 different times out of the MCQ's. Most of the formulas you study you won't see on the exam.

I took BEC earlier today and I really don't know how I did. First testlet, obviously moderate difficulty was easy for me. I felt confident enough that Testlet 2 was going to be difficult based off my performance in the first, and I was correct as it was significantly more detailed and difficult. Apparently I must have done ok on it because testlet 3 was absolutely brutal. Terms I had never even heard of were in there. As for the WC I think I knew enough to bs two of them and tried to throw in some key words but even those were difficult for me. One was awful, I'm hoping it was a pretest as all I could do there was repeat some terms and hopefully have good sentence structure.

Anyone have any idea on how that will be scored? I feel my testlets were definitely moderate difficult difficult. Maybe I guessed correctly on some on testlet 2 because I found it pretty hard and got what was for sure a difficult testlet 3.

As for the IT COSO talk, it was fairly heavy in that as well. But I am a computer geek (I build computers and use a VPN and virtual machines with a little linux). So the IT stuff made more sense to me than a lot of the practice tests as I didn't feel the terms were so out of date, but it was still not easy as there were some things I didn't have a clue about.

I thought that as I was going through the 2nd and 3rd test packets were getting harder, lengthier questions and some that I had to read a few times to figure out what it was asking for. But then in each packet I would come across a few gimmees. Did this happen to anyone else or is my gauge of difficulty just way the heck off?

I just took it today, the IT questions are insane, like you said, never seen in the material. I have read Becker and Wiley, and there are a couple wild questions that I just don't know and I don't think that I missed anything. I think I have a fair chance to pass. My testlet def got harder and the third testlet was still hard. I got really tired during the last testlet because the calculations are so long. I kept telling myself, “pass pass pass pass pass.” It helped me. I think I did ok on writing, I just write whatever I know.
This is my last one, I really help to get over CPA exam and to have my life back.
