I just finished taking BEC about an hour ago and thought I’d share my thoughts on it while the material is still fresh.

I felt more confident going into this test after already taking FAR and REG. The first MC testlet consisted of a wide variety of questions from pretty much every chapter. The questions were spread out evenly in terms of topics. There was also a good mix of calculations and conceptual questions. I felt very good after submitting the first testlet. Then things got weird….

The second testlet definitely was harder. The number of IT questions was absurd. And many of them included terms and concepts not covered in Becker. Very frustrating. There were only a handful of questions in the second testlet that required calculation. Needles to say I felt pretty horrible after submitting it and moving on to the TBS.

The TBS were very doable. Easiest of the the three tests in my opinion. I felt very confident about all four. The essay portion was easy enough. I don’t think I aced the writing portion, but I’ll at least get partial credit.

Overall, the only thing that threw me for a loop was the absurdity of the IT questions. Sounds like this has been a common theme though with the new test. Oh well, nothing I can do now but wait.

Just got out of my exam. I wanted to cry because I've never felt so bad about an exam in my entire life.

"FACT": The odds of consecutively passing all four sections of the CPA exam on the first try: 7%.

    Me: Hold my beer...

    FAR (April 2017): 75+

    BEC (May 2017): 75+

    AUD (July 2017): 75+

Just got out of my exam a couple of hours ago so thought I would share my experience. Just for reference, I failed BEC back in March with a 74 (yes, the dreaded 74). For the retake, I spent 10 weeks and averaged about 25 hours a week of study time.

First off let me start out by saying that the people on here were not joking when they said IT is heavily tested. If I had to guess I would say around 60-70% of my mcq were IT related and the majority I had never seen before. Granted I have done all of the IT questions from Roger, Ninja, Gleim, and Wiley and still had no exposure to these types of questions. Unfortunately I had to make many educated guesses, which was so frustrating since I have spent so much time preparing for this exam. The sims were pretty straightforward. Not too easy, but doable. The written communications were a breeze. I am hoping the sims and WC will outweigh my mcq performance. Now we wait…

    FAR: 79 (7/25/16)
    AUD: 89 (10/3/16)
    REG: 69 (1/9/17); 83 (8/21/17)
    BEC: 74 (3/6/17); 90 (5/31/17)
