I just want to vent out here. I took my first BEC exam today and I walked out of prometric really upset. Where did they get those questions from??!!! I’m so upset. First testlet was medium, 2nd testlet was really hard and 3rd testlet was easy. I know I did horrible on this test.I flagged more than half the questions on the 2nd testlet. For WC, I just made stuff up.

I just feel like it’s not fair how hard those questions were. I know I did my best. I studied hard….Now I have to come up with a plan to regroup and restudy for this test again.

I know exactly how you feel. I used the Wiley Test bank and practiced 1800 MCQ in preparation for the exam. I felt pretty confident going in to the exam. All of my averages for each individual section of BEC were 80% or higher. When I actually sat for the exam, I flagged the first 7 questions on the first testlet. I was absolutely blown away by the questions that were being asked because I felt like I didn't have a clue how to answer them. I thought for sure that I was screwed.

However, over the course of the exam I started to get questions that were familiar and I was able to confidently answer them. Overall, I flagged roughly 6-7 questions per testlet which I thought for sure was going to lead to a failure… BUT I PASSED!

I'm not sure if anyone leaves an exam feeling absolutely confident that they passed. So far, both of my passing attempts (AUD & BEC) I left feeling like I failed. Don't read too much into those feelings. As far as the simulations go, my understanding is that as long as the communication was on topic (i.e. relevant) and contained proper spelling and grammar then you should receive full credit. Take a few days and rest up. I'd imagine you don't have to wait too long to find out your result, so you may just want to wait until then before you start studying again for BEC or another section. I used WTB too and did all the MCQ's and sims. Also answered all the MCQ's on my review course (CPA Excel). Just hope my best was enough and pass like you did. I'm taking a 3 day break then back to the grind.

I am in the same boat. Sat for the exam on February 22. I used beckers but there were questions on the exam, I was clueless about. Even some of the cal were so long and hard. I remember reading others post that calculation on bec is simple.However, it wasn't the case with me. I am praying for 75. Good luck to you

I honestly studied my rear-end off for the last 5 1/2 weeks, estimating that I had over 100 hours in it. I'll be surprised if I passed. I am ashamed to say that I've already looked at Prometric availability for the first week of April.

On another note, how do you folks feel about immediately re-taking a test other than moving on to another for time sake? I know in the long run it costs more, but just as a test taking strategy how do you feel?

When I took it, I came out of Prometric so defeated. I started planning when I would take it next because I was so sure I failed. One of the SIMS and about 15 of the MCs felt like completely foreign material. But I got my score this week and passed! Don't stress yourself out too much. You never know.

@DHO – I like to take exams one section at time so I know I passed or failed; and either re-study or move onto the next, I did that until I finally passed AUD and that was my first test passed. Now that I have a time line to finish I'm working on only BEC, but I'm on my 3rd attempt. So My plan is to take 2 this next testing window, but I'll take BEC on April 1st and REG on May 30th or 31st. I'm doing that because I feel I should've already passed BEC and I need to keep moving forward. Another reason is because I can't take BEC in the same testing window and if I take it at the begining of the testing I have enough time to study for REG. We'll see how that goes. Sorry if I'm rambling, hope that makes sense.
