BEC – Strange Exam - Page 2

As I reflect on my BEC exam experience it feels like half of the exam was foreign to me. I almost felt like I did not study for the right exam at times. Where the hell was all of the economics and finance I had studied so intensely. And, why were some of the IT questions so foreign?

Anyhow, I believe I answered probably 60%+ of the MCQ correctly and nailed the WC.

Is there any way I passed? Has anyone had a similar experience? I won’t find out until the 21st and I need to stop dwelling on it because only the actual released by the AICPA matters.

    Thanks for any feedback!

@cpa4928 you are not alone! I had the same exam experience with BEC (took it on the 6th)- I studied well Fin manag-t and Economics (and Cost accounting) but I dont remember a single Econ question, maybe a couple of Fin Manag-t and Cost acct and it felt like majority of questions were IT related.

Just like you waiting for the score release , and have no clue how I did

I took BEC on 3/9/17 and it was a very strange exam, I had many IT questions. I almost felt like I didn't study at all. The WC were pretty straight forward.

The more time that passes by the More upset I am with myself. I studied everything very well except for IT. I read the first 20 of the 30 pages of the chapter and felt fairly comfortable with it so I decided to use the week before my exam to reinforce the other 80% of the material. I was hoping IT would be fairly straight forward wouldn't show up all that much. However, my first testlet had about 7 IT questions. I felt OK with the other 17 questions but I ended up getting a very easy 2nd testlet. It was very simple calculations using a variety of formulas throughout the curriculum. This testlet had probably 5 IT questions. I received a difficult 3rd test let. I felt good about the non IT questions in that testlet. There were probably 5 IT questions. Therefore there were about 17 IT questions in my exam. I only felt comfortable in about 5 of them. I just wanted to vent that I feel the AICPA should abide by the content specification they claim, which is 17% or about 12 questions. How can you say economics is 21% but ends up showing up in about 3 questions in the entire exam.

^^KC22, don't worry about the easy calcs. My calc problems in BEC were all really straight forward and watered down

@Needsa75 I really hope so. I'm just so upset about the IT. Definitely screwed up there. I just hope it won't keep me from passing.

IT was the only area in BEC I scored “weaker” in. I knew coming out of the exam that IT messed me up. Otherwise I probably would have hit in the 90's.

    I'm sure you did fine
