BEC – Strange Exam

    As I reflect on my BEC exam experience it feels like half of the exam was foreign to me. I almost felt like I did not study for the right exam at times. Where the hell was all of the economics and finance I had studied so intensely. And, why were some of the IT questions so foreign?

    Anyhow, I believe I answered probably 60%+ of the MCQ correctly and nailed the WC.

    Is there any way I passed? Has anyone had a similar experience? I won’t find out until the 21st and I need to stop dwelling on it because only the actual released by the AICPA matters.

    Thanks for any feedback!

    Thanks guys. I need to stop dwelling on it, but it is super frustrating. I studied my butt off and at least 1/4 of the questions were very strange. Like I had never seen them ever before. The rest of the questions were either pretty easy or difficult calculation.

    Thanks for your feedback. No one else understands wth I am talking about except you guys, so I appreciate your responses. Goodluck!

    Those foreign questions hopefully were pre-test, hence why they were so foreign?

    If you did as you felt that should be a pass I would hope. Again the actual grades aren't percentages but you seem to be on the bubble of a 75 based on your feelings. Maybe even better if those strange questions truly were pre-test ones.

    I did the mistake of not studying the IT chapter very much in order to strengthen the other ones. IT was like 1/4 of my test. I got medium, easy, difficult. I know easy isn't an option the AICPA gives but I swear the 2nd was a joke. The easiest application of formulas. I do not have a good feeling about this one lol

    Yes, I really hope the foreign IT questions were pretest. And, I have a feeling I will be between a 73-76. But, it's hard to say.

    I was surprised that I had very few easy formulas. I figured they would be littered throughout my exam! All of my formula-related questions were multistep and not straightforward.

    Oh well, I'm hoping for a pass and wish everyone well. This process is extremely Draining!

    I took on 3/10 the BEC. 1st time I took in OCT I got a 74.

    This time around (3/10) the exam as someone pointed out was foreign like did I study for the right exam. There were SO MANY IT questions and more than half were not in Roger, or Wiley Test Bank.

    The computations were easy and straightforward. The WC for once were actually on BEC topics (not FAR AUD REG like last time). Many of the IT questions were educated guesses.

    I dont know what to think. the WC were easy and probably got 12 out of 15 points at least.

    I hope I dont have to re take with the new format …

    When I practiced with the NINJA MCQ I downloaded the older questions that Jeff provides and they are marked as Hard and Moderate, I noticed more than half of the hard questions (which I assume are 2 pointers) were IT questions. I think it's a good sign…

    I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a lot of IT questions on the exam! I took it 3/7 and wasn't sure how to feel because there were so many and they were so detailed. I had a duplicate IT question on two sections so I hope that doesn't count against me 2x if I answered incorrectly. Testlets were Medium, Hard, Easy and I feel like I nailed the writing section. I don't know how I can wait another week for the score release.

    REG=80
    FAR=73,90
    AUD=82

    IT was the one area I scored weaker in BEC

    I took the BEC exam on 3/7/17 and this was the exact same way my exam was. There were a lot of IT questions and no economics at all. The terms in some of the IT questions were not in my study material. I finished the exam in 2 hours so I hope that means that I knew most of it. Well besides those 3 or 4 weird IT questions.

    KC22, I can't believe I'm done. It is so weird because in the last 7 days I am either the happiest person on earth or I just randomly cry because I don't know if it is real. After doing this exam and preparing for an entire year, you forget what life is like without studying and MCQ's. This certification is worth every pay raise/salary increase ever given, I don't care what anyone says- it is the most draining exam.

    Char143, I definitely agree. People may say other exams are more difficult which may be true. However, this one has 4 parts and the fact that you can only take one per testing window and have to wait forever for a score release makes it so stressful.
