Hi there – can anyone post their experience on the weight of math on the BEC exam? I don’t want specific topics or to break any rules in you providing me with your detailed experience but I need some extra time to do the math problems in BEC to feel confident and time was my biggest enemy on my other exams so I would like some insight.

Would it be similar to what Becker Final exams have? I don’t want to push myself to adhere to a strict time on the first and second testlet if I will really need less time that planned so should not move along if I’m taking longer than I’d hoped (because hopefully the testlets will get harder and take longer). I’m planning for 45 mins per testlet right now and exam’s on Monday!

I was very worried about time for FAR and I've ended up doing fine on time. My advice is just make sure you stay focused.

BEC I was able to take 2 quick bathroom breaks and still finish just in time (darn vitamin water I drank on the way to the test). I barely passed and didn't feel that my testlets got harder. There were a good amount of questions that took less than a minute so those balanced out with those that were longer. I'd say 45 minutes is a good plan. I think that is what I did also, I ended up taking less and luckily was able to take my breaks.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I took BEC 3x and like the pp said, every exam was very different as far as the types of problems I saw. One thing that was consistent throughout all of my exams is that the computation problems were never as long as the Becker HW ones and I always got a lot more conceptual questions than I expected. I hope that helps some.

One thing that helped me on time was that as I was working a testlet, I quickly scrolled through each question by selecting it at the bottom of the screen and answered all the non-math questions first. Then I went back and worked the ones with computations. By doing that I was able to see that instead of the testlet appearing heavy on math that it may only be xx number of questions and since I had the other ones answered I could keep from worrying if I had enough time to complete them all. It also allowed me to quickly look at them and see if there were easier ones I could answer quickly and not spend too much time on one question in the beginning.
