How do you guys sit and study a topic that you have absolutely no interest in? I’m about to sit for AUD at the end of Feb and I’m having problems just sitting with the material. Any tips? Or is this just a suck it up and get over it situation?

Suck it up or face taking it 5 times like me? :O Maybe that's motivation? I don't know why it took 4 fails to get through my sick skull to just stop taking what I have for granted. Some people don't even have access to Becker and here I am with Becker and complaining about how boring it is (not saying you're complaining, just that I complained).

Maybe watch a documentary about Enron or something about auditing that makes it interesting. Try to almost inspire yourself to want to become an auditor.

I feel ya. My boyfriend keeps telling me that I need to get excited about learning something new – no matter what it is. I keep trying to remind myself that whenever I sit down to study. Going into it with the attitude of “this sucks” definitely impacts how much I get out of a study session!

Unfortunately, you have to suck it up and study if you want to pass. Maybe try to reward yourself after studying, like watching a favorite tv show.

Look at it this way. There are things in life we don't want to do, but we do then anyway. Like going to work, going to the dentist, etc.

Studying audit is completely different from doing an audit. It's awful but you just have to push through it.

Basically I hype myself up each night to get a higher qrade on my MCQ than the first time I did them.

Also, I look at my kids and I say “this is for you”

Believe me, I'm 35 and had to go back to school for credits and push through this exam over almost a 4 year period. I study hard because I know the end is near and the end moves further away if i don't study.
