Do the research tabs in the actual CPA simulations limit the amount of information you can retrieve? For instance, in Becker’s 2010 A2 simulation, you cannot look up information regarding Accounting and Review Services.

I was attempting to look up a compilation report to assist with my answer in the Communication section, but the information was not available on this simulation. Would this likely occur during the actual CPA exam?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe they do. I was able to look up unrelated information while taking AUD last month. My only other comment is to watch your time if you attempt to do this on FAR. That section is notorious for taking the ENTIRE time limit given to you, and there is a good chance that looking up info may make it so that you do not have enough time to answer the other questions in the Sims.

    Good Luck on the test!!

While I'm not going to say what is in or not in the resources section, I will tell you that I did remember all the different types of reports for the auditing section and I found it very useful. It helps you understand what each different type of engagement consists of and also the auditor's and management's responsibilities.

A way to remember them is to just open a blank Word documents and type each report, trying to remember as much as possible. Then review what what you missed or forgot in your review materials. It doesn't take much time and it will pay off in the long run.

BrianM – SeanM is correct. On the real CPA exam you will have all the literature in the research tab. It is not like Becker that only has select sections of the research material. SeanM is also correct, I would not rely on ther research tab to answer any questions on the simulations unless it is the second simulation and you are just trying to check your answers for those you have no idea. However, I would not even recommend that. I started doing that on REG and just started second guessing every answer and change a few in the process. Afterwards I felt like that was a big mistake fortunately I will never know whether changing the answers helped or hurt my score but only glad that I passed anyway. My two cents on studying for simulations is concentrate on the multiple choice and only review the simulations to show you how a simulation might be structured. The subject matter that you might get on a simulation is anybodies guess. Good Luck on the 29th.

Thanks for the advice all. My main concern was not having the report literature. I'm fairly comfortable with all of the changes and the placement of paragraphs, but I didn't want to have to memorize each report word for word if I happened to run into one in the written communication section. I'm glad I'll have the research materials to lean back on if I need it.

I'm working the MC as much as I can. I was hoping to pick up the Wiley CPA Test bank for Audit today, but no local bookstore is carrying it. They only have REG and BEC.

I'm not in school and not working at the moment so this is my full time job. I've given myself 2.5-3 weeks to study for this exam. I'm averaging about 10-12 hours a day. My first time through the MC for A1 and A2 I achieved 75-80% correct, and was near 98% on my second time through (although I recalled many answers). I'm working on A3 tonight, doing another A3 review tomorrow, followed by the A4 lectures.

Any suggestions for final prep next week?

If you want extra MC questions. Gleim has a testbank that you can access immediately. I used it for audit and found it helpful.
