    I need tips regarding how you should focus your attention on AUDIT. Most people say that the BECKER first chapter does not appear a lot in the test. Please help me. I take this test on JULy 1

    I would disagree with that statement….Chapter 1 in the Becker book provides a very strong framework for what is encountered in other parts of the book. One of the most valuable things in chapter 1 is the unqualified audit opinion…memorize that thing like it is the pledge of allegiance! Don't get me wrong there are some challenging topics in other parts of the book, but I certaintly wouldn't overlook chapter 1.

    Assuming you also have the Becker software, I would also do as many multiple choice questions as possible! Also work those simulations in the software…although I don't have my score yet from AUD (and it is possible I could have failed) I swear that the simulations on the Becker software helped me on the exam. While you're working on the multiple choice questions really look for the call of the question…AUD questions are very ambiguous. When you work on them and re-work them the call of the question becomes a little more obvious and easier to determine what the examiners are looking for.

    Just my 2 cents from someone who doesn't know if she passed or failed AUD yet. 🙂

    Good luck in your studying!

    I would recommend buying a Wiley Book for additonal MQCs, my experience, which seems to be shared by a few others on here, is that Becker MCQs alone may not be enough to pass. Happy studying and Good luck!

    I don't understand why the Becker staff and others tell you to memorize the audit opinion. If you are good at using the research function, you can look up nearly any type of language you might need for the essay portion.

    AUD - PASSED
    REG - PASSED
    BEC - PASSED
    FAR - WAITING!!!

    Patrick, they might ask about it in MCQ where research function is unavailable? I remember seing those types of questions in Becker: “which letter/ form this paragraph is from”.

    Audit is my last section and I am really nervous. I have been studying for 3 weeks and I'm not even close to being ready. After 3 other exams, I know what “ready” feels like. How do the Becker homework questions compare to the actual exam?

    The first time I took AUD, I struggled with the MC questions. I felt like maybe Becker hadn't focused heavily enough on the material that I was now being tested on. I failed… and during my additional studying, I realized that I didn't really know/understand A3 and A4 as well as I should have… and perhaps the problem was me and the questions I was given. Sometimes you just feel like the exam randomly pulls all the questions you were hoping not to get.

    My 2nd AUD test was totally different (the style/topics/everything). I felt like my actual exam questions were similar in difficulty as those Becker had shown me. Had I had my second test first, I think I would have passed. The point is: Figure out what questions you try to avoid, and master that material.

    Exam results still pending…

    AlmostThere, I found that Becker Audit questions prepare you very well as long as you do them at least twice, including supplemental questions. They are normally more difficult that actual exam questions, so if you take your time to really understand material and do them over and over – you should be in great shape. Personally, I think consistency is a key… I know I was seriously slacking for FAR and REG.

    I already passed all the other sections, but failed the AUD section three times. I have been soring 73, 74, and now 71. I don't really know what else to do. I used Becker and Wiley as text prep. and scored about 100% in MCQ of the BECKER part I to 4 and about 70% in part 5. In my last try, I thought I had a great chance to pass and I came short again. It seems like the exam is getting harder and harder. I have only one chance left. I m planning to retake at the beginning of July and if I fail, i m going to start losing credit. Your ideas would be very helpful.

    I'd get the Yaegar Cram to supplement your Becker materials. You're really close so you definitely have a good foundation, just need to build on it a bit more. Chapter 5 was the hardest chapter for me as well, I think because I was just done by the time I got to it.

    Also do you think you are memorizing the questions on the Becker materials?

    I use cpareviewforfree for during work when I have down time, that seemed to help too. The questions were different then I'd seen in Becker/Wiley

    Good Luck! You'll get it!

    I failed AUD 2x, and felt very nervous for my 3rd time.

    I changed my strategy, instead of reading ect.

    I went into MCQ mode, I purchased the Gleim system, but basically just did their Gleim Test Prep MCQs which has 1,783 MCQs–I did those MCQs 3x…on the 3rd time, I was averaging 90-100%

    Also did all the MCQs in the Wiley CD, about 4x.

    I also did all the MCQs from the Wiley CPA review book 2x.

    I think I did over 3,500 MCQ about 3x……

    Maybe I over did it, but I did not want to fail….

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    I used Becker for Auditing and I thought it was great.

    Do NOT overlook Chapter 1. It is extremely important. While many people say to memorize the standard report, I don't think any memorization is necessary (other than the Becker pneumonics). You have to know it well, but not well enough where you have to be able to write it word for word. Know what's in it. Be able to recognize errors in the report. If you see a sentence, you need to be able to determine if it's a part of the report or not, and what may be wrong with it. If you do all of Becker's questions over and over and over and over and over…and over and over and over and over…you will know all you should need to know.

    For what it's worth, I did not actually memorize anything other than the pneumonics. I had great recognition, however, and it came not from reading and then writing out various reports, but from working and re-working multiple choice questions over and over and…well, you get it. I probably did each Becker multiple choice question 6-8 times. I'd say 3-4 times during my first go-around of the lecture and another 3-4 times in my review.

    By the time the test came around I was almost bored with the multiple choice questions. However my simulations sucked…but that's a whole different story.

    In summary, this exam doesn't require memorization. It requires recognition. Big difference often mistaken for one another.

    I got a 96 without trying to memorize anything other than the Becker pneumonics. RAPMEAM RAPMEAM, AMIASAD, ALARD, etc. By knowing those and working a bazillion multiple choice practice questions, you should be set to ace this puppy.

    The Becker material serves as a solid base. Chapter 1 is essential, even though a lot of questions will be from other chapters. Also knowing the different reports. There are certain MUST know by hard. and then just know which paragraphs differ and where the explanatory paragraph goes, etc. I created a huge Excel spread sheet listing all reports listing their structures. This helped me a lot and I collected a lot of easy points on these questions. I had trouble with the cycles. . . Anyhow, I perceive all Becker materials as providing the necessary content to pass the respective exams, but from my personal point of view presentation is not concise and structure appears confusing to me. But they have the stuff to pass.

    So what worked for me:

    1.) CD lectures, frequently interrupted to take notes, create short summaries and really get it.

    2.) I ‘ve done all MC except for the additional, but I would recommend to also do them.

    3.) I briefly did some simulations and 2 exams

    4.) Final Review

    5.) My personal notes: the Excel spread-sheet with all notes. And I created a map with all mnenomics and connected all of them with each other, if related.

    Result:

    1st attempt: done after 2.5h (too fast) ==> 74

    2nd attempt (just 5 days refreshing) done after 4h ==> 83

    Even though you might be tired of hearing or reading it. Look for the CALL OF THE QUESTION. This is 50% of the how-to-pass-AUD-miracle. And then just get the feeling for the correct answer.

    Hope this personal insight helped somewhat. Good luck!
