How much do you hate studying for AUD? - Page 2

I started studying for Audit a few weeks ago. I thought BEC was bad…! I know Audit isn’t supposed to be “that hard” because there’s no calculations, but I’m finding myself getting hung up on everything. Should I memorize this or not? Etc. And it’s so soooo boring…zzzzzz.

What’s the best way to study for Audit? MCQs or reading? Also, I’m thinking about supplementing with Wiley Test Bank again, which is what I did for BEC. Should I get the Test Bank or go for the Ninja Notes?

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

Watching the lectures and doing the MCQ should give you a good idea of the major topics to focus on. Understanding the concept is much more important than memorizing. The only topic worth memorizing is the standard 3-paragraph unqualified opinion. And also read the questions carefully. There's a reason why this test is as long as FAR. The answer choice seems correct but they casually slip in a random word (eg. effectiveness, internal, details) that makes the choice completely wrong.

Researching the SIMs is another advantage, so as Jenuno mentioned, be familiar with it. I failed to use the research function on my previous attempt and regretted it.

Yay! Kasia is back. I thought you had abandoned us.

    BEC - 67, 79 - (expires 5/24)
    REG - 74, 72, 77 - Key to Passing: RTFQ
FAR - 77 - Chance favors the prepared mind.
    AUD - 64, (5/14) - FREEDOM!! (i hope)

@Hut-Hut, I've been back for a few weeks after a brief hiatus, then there was some insane drama and I backed away again. I'm back now that things have settled and there aren't angry posts telling A71 Alumni to get lives.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

For audit, there is really no way you can prepare for the sims. You can practice them all day long and you won't see anything like the ones you have practiced on the real exam. This is why you have to be prepared to use the research tab. It can tell you the answers to 75% of the material in the sims if you have time to use it. My advice would be to use 2 hours on the sims so you can research everything you don't know. I had a sim on my exam that I didn't know at all and I found the entire thing word for word in the research tab. The other ones I could find most of the answers on. There was only one sim on my exam that the majority of it was not in the research tab.

Most of the time, the people that fail audit underestimate the difficulty of the sims on the real exam and don't use the research tab. I have seen a lot of people who fail that perform strong on the multiple choice but weaker on the sims and fail. This is because they didn't take the time to look up the answers in the research tab. You can honestly know nothing about audit and still do well on the sims if you just know how to use the research tab.

Do the sims in Becker to be familiar with the format of them but don't stress out and focus that much time on them. Instead, do a million multiple choice questions because the ones on the exam are very similar (you can only ask a question about certain topics in so many different ways).

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!

I hated studying for audit. The Becker lectures were probably more boring than anything I've ever experienced.

My experience was: Thanks, I can read myself. I don't need you to read to me. Also, if you say the words “highlight this” one more time, I'm going to scream! shudder.

I ended up going with Roger who really stepped up the game… we shall see. I did TONS of Becker and Wiley MCQ and probably went through a dozen simulations, just to make sure I was familiar with the format… and types of simulations.

I found no surprises on the exam.

    REG - passed (expires 5/13)
    AUD - passed
    FAR - passed
    BEC - passed 4/17

    DONE!!!

Texas, thanks for the info, that's really helpful! I am going to practice researching as much as possible.

@meg, I agree, I really do not like Tim Gearty lectures! He's extremely boring and I don't find him nearly as helpful as Peter Olinto. I love Olinto!

@megtothemax, “whose statements are these?” lol gotta love Roger!

The research tab really helped for my AUD exam.

@keelydare1, go to the library and find a new Wiley book for their questions to practice with. If you decide to get the WTB from Jeff though, you won't be disappointed.

http://www.cpareviewfofree.com helped me out with the AUD MCQ's too

I appreciate Olinto as well. Resounding disappointment to discover Gearty lectured the entire Audit course. I found myself counting how many times he said “again” per lecture.

    @Drex – “Maaannnnaaagements” haha, yes… love him!
